Admitting to being a Democrat in Utah doesn't exactly open doors, either. At least the republicans here don't have pretense of tolerance or enlightenment, so it's not a disappointment and you know what to expect.
Wait, there's another Democrat like me in American Fork? Shouldn't we be in some kind of club together?
You'll get a lot more tolerance in Utah for being a Democrat than you ever will in Hollywood for being a Republican. Liberals always claim tolerance and they are--as long as it's anyone who agrees with them. Anyone who disagrees with them is an intolerant bigot.
Conservatives know about liberalism because we are bombarded with it constantly from the news media, TV, movies, etc. In Hollywood, they have no idea about conservatives because they live in an echo chamber and talk to no one but themselves. They don't even know what conservatives believe or stand for. That's the definition of being a provincial and that's exactly what they are.
I loved "Married with Children".
About 1/2 of the legislators in Salt Lake County are Democrat. The County Mayor is Democrat. The Congressional Candidate with the largest chunk of voters in Salt Lake County is a democrat.
Sad, but true.
