@UtahUte91"Why would the Utes want to play Utah State and Weber
State?"For a challenge? For bragging rights? For tradition? When
recruiting inside the state of Utah it's nice to be able to say you beat
the in state rivals. BYU played/plays USU as well as the U. It just makes sense
for a preseason game. Plus as a fan its nice to say BYU beat the U. remember when U lost to The mighty Sacramento State Hornets? ya wouldn't
it be better to instead schedule Weber State?
For a few minutes there it looked like this game was going to go the way of so
many others this year. Closely contested but ultimately lost in the last few
minutes. Not so!So happy for this group and how they finished this
game. Love it. BEAT ARIZONA!Go Utes!
Great win for the Utes last night. I got pretty nervous when ASU took the lead
in the second half but the Utes didn't lose hope and kept grinding it out.
They made a great comeback and hit huge free throws to close it out.Washburn had a great game and I'm glad to see him having some success his
senior year. He has been through all of the lowest points that the program has
ever been through and he has remained positive and has continued to work
hard.I would love to see the Utes be able to match this effort with
some consistency, it has been a problem this season for this team but it they
can, they should be able to win a few more games this year.Go Utes!
Christy BWhy would the Utes want to play Utah State and Weber State?
The big difference in the game last night, free throw shooting!#2 in the PAC Utah versus #334 in the country ASU. Free
throws are ASU's Achilles heal. The Sun Devils made 4 of 10
(40%); the Utes made 17 of 23 (74%); a difference of 13 points in a five-point
game. Utah made 10 for 10 free throws in the final 4 1/2 minutes of
the game to ice the game.
If the Utes continue to play like this they might be good enough to add Utah
State and Weber State back onto there schedule next season.
For those who haven't seen this team play: You are missing out on a real
treat. Win or lose these kids play their hearts out and provide an interesting
game. Unlike some Boylen teams who seemed to give up when they got behind. They
almost always manage to keep it close. Tickets are super cheap and well worth
it. Come on out and support the Utes!
I must admit as a die hard Ute football fan I have kind of lost touch with The
Running Utes since Majerus left. I tried for a while but growing up watching
great basketball then watching what I found as horrible basketball was tough to
do. 11-12 now with some heart breaking losses to some pretty good teams? A
coach that has made drastic improvement in 2 seasons? I
haven't been paying attention a whole lot i'll admit, but I have been
keeping tabs. I listened to the loss to Arizona earlier in the season. That
was tough. But this team and this win last night may just have really sparked
my attention. Been waiting for the Utes to have a, at the very least,
respectable team again. Seems like coach K just might be able to do that. I
may have to go check out a game now, and I'm sure I'm not the only one
who has lost touch with Utes basketball, that would come back and support a
legit team again. That may sound messed up, but it's the truth.
I know others that feel the same way.
This team has heart. GO UTES!!!
Way to go Utes! This from a die hard BYU fan. Congrats and keep on rolling.
It was a great win for sure. Let's hope there are many more to come.
This is the kind of game Utah used to win with regularity back in the days of
the old WAC - losing both games at ASU and Arizona, and then winning both games
in the return matches, was commonplace for BYU and Utah back in the '70s.
A nice win for the Utes this season, but the fact that fans,
players, and coaches are reacting like this was something astonishing just goes
to show how far Utah basketball has fallen in the last decade.Utah
fans should be expecting to win games like this, not simply hoping the Utes can
pull of an upset.Someday, that may be the case again, but with
Washburn, Martin, and DuBois leaving at the end of this season, the Utes will be
facing another rebuilding year next season.
Even tho I'm no Ute fan, I find myself pulling for them. Coach K has them
working hard, and it's a good thing to see their hard work rewarded with a
win. I still wish they would play the Aggies, but that's Chris Hill's
fault, not the team's.
This really is news---the Utes win. Congratulations.
Man that was a great game! It got a little scary in the second half. My young
son decdided it was time to go home and go to bed. But I was determined to stay
and see if they would at least keep fighting for the win. And, we were rewarded
with a great comeback. That was probably the worst attendance I
have seen this year (at least for a conference game). We really need the Ute
fans to come back and support this team. Maybe next year?
The Utes and the Pac12 rock. Great tradition, great future. Go Utes.
Washburn played a great game. If the Utes can beat OSU at home in a couple of
weeks they'll exceed their 3 conference wins from last season, an
Great to see. The Utes have some really nice wins: Boise St, Colorado and now
ASU. Too bad there are so many loses. I would love to see this team play well
down the stretch, get at around .500 in conference play, and make some type of
post season tournament. No matter what happens, they are trending upwards. GO
There are lots of Ute fans very frustrated with this team. Yes, the close losses
(especially when we've blown a big lead) have been frustrating. What we
need to remember is where this team has come from (only 6 wins last year). They
are starting 2 Freshmen with so many other players brand new to the program. I
am so excited for the future of the Runnin' Utes!
Great win guys. Keep working hard!Go Utes!
Fun game to be at ... nicely done Utes! It was great seeing this team finally
break through and win a close, hard fought, come from behind win. Now if they
can just beat Arizona Sunday! (I'm not holding my breath, but a guy can
Awesome win guys! Keep it up.
Turn the corner... great game by Washburn. GO UTES... beat Arizona!
