The usual fringe element of the environmental movement makes a spectacle, and instead of being dismissed as a bunch of kooks, they get lots of free publicity from the media.
I guess this was just too easy for the Deseret News to pass up, since your Legislative reporters were already up there, and I am sure the media savvy demonstrators made sure to get them in position before they pulled their stunt.
Journalism is hard. Propaganda is easy.
