The Mormon church has been thinking about this for YEARS.
No, not because I know personally, but because its such a huge decision that after decades and decades of being very consistent(in this area at least), there is no way this was a one month, or even one year decision.
With the negative impact to the state schools, the least the Mormons could have done was make the colleges and universities aware they were considering it.
Yes, it would have become public knowledge at that point.
But why keep it a secret only to have the massive negative impacts to taxpayer funded colleges and universities?
