Not saying they'd win the thing, but opponents shouldn't overlook the Utes in the PAC12 tourney. They're good enough to be dangerous.
How can a coach and his players pat themselves on the back for a loss and a 2-9 season? C'mon Coach K, be a competitor and never ever be satisfied with a loss or with a 2-9 conference record. We deserve much better than that.
SSmith,
If someone isn't at least realistic they can't be taken seriously.
Baby steps my friend. It's frustrating but it's just the way it is.
@ SSmith
The fact that they've only really embarrassed themselves less than a handful of times this season is a vast improvement.
Sorry, not buying into the idea that we are babies who need baby steps or that we not embarrassed. Face it, we are in fact, embarrassed. My point is that if you let up now and say well done or, way to improve, then next year when adversity strikes, players will know that Coach K will give them the comfort blanket and the pacifier. Instead, he should expect a win every game and nothing less.
SSmith,
I agree. However, there is a differnece between how you and I react to the season and how coach K does. My guess is he's letting the guys have it after every loss, as he should.
He's not giving them a blanket
However, how you react has no impact on the team. You're acting like one of those fans who says "one game at a time" when in reality we as fans can look forward to 10 years from now and it won't impact this week's games at all.
Go UTES!
Coach K is going to take us to the top of the Pac 12 within 2 more years. I have faith
SSmith, where are you getting the idea that they are "pat themselves on the back for a loss and a 2-9 season" and that the coaches are "letting up"? The article says "our staff is staying on them and pulling guys aside". The author, Dirk Farcer, is the one that suggests a moral victory, not Coach K or the team.
This Utah team has improved tremendously over last years team and they seem to have gotten better and better during the season as well. Of course they have had some bad setbacks but overall, they are competing this year. Overall, the PAC12 conference is much improved from top to bottom over what they were last year. There has been multiple teams ranked in the top 25 all year long compared to last year when the conference struggled.
I'm encouraged with the progress of our young guys. A bunch of our freshmen have made huge strides over the last few weeks in particular. Brandon Taylor has been able to earn a starting spot and has made a great difference to what this team can do.
This team just needs to be able to put it all together on a more consistent basis. They have nights where they play great defense then they have nights that they let everything happen in front of them.
Hopefully they can get some good effort out of the young guys along with key guys like Washburn and get a couple more wins this season.
Go Utes!
It's clear that SSmith understands the concept of 'moral victory' and several Ute fans who don't.
There is hope... one fan at a time. LOL
