Utah has a vastly superior recruiting class for 2013 than y! The proof of the pudding is how many Yner trollers there are on this story. The worse byU does, the more trollers come out on Utah stories!!
Go Utes!!
BYU fans. Let's discuss the future for a change; and even the article. Per Rivals: BYU's class (#69) is ranked below Houston, Duke, Toledo and every team in the PAC 12. Wow! How discouraging.
Utah fans: another good recruiting class. Ranked #37. That's ahead of Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Miami. Just behind Arizona and Oregon State.
That about sums it up!
Ive got an idea Ute fans, we should find a team with a much better recruiting class than ours like UCLA and start trolling them because it would somehow make sense right?
-If Utah fans thought like BYU fans
Probably the most disappointing aspect of this is that we still finished in the bottom half of the PAC12 in our recruiting ranking and did not get one single 4 star HS recruit. Even as we brag about our recruiting we did not get a single top HS kid, not one. Even BYU got a 4 star top rated offensive lineman.
As we continue to fall further and further behind the rest of our conference, put up even more losing conference seasons like the last two, stay home from bowl games because we aren't good enough to be in them, and generally maintain our mediocrity, it will be interesting to see our stadium lose attendence just like the Huntsman Center has.
These are sad and frustrating days for those of us that are true Ute Fans and not just frantic and emotional BYU haters.
Hahaha oh byu "fans". We can see that this is hurting you. We were supposed to be viewed by the nation, including all these high school kids, as a doormat, right? While you were supposed to be viewed as the greatest college football program ever with the strongest national brand, or cachet, or whatever you kept calling yourselves. You started to believe what other "fans" were posting on the message boards. It was obvious that the best athletes would rather play for you than anyone else! And then this happens. Like I said, we can see that this hurts.
But when you come to articles about our recruits to talk about how we can't be competitive with a 37th ranked class, while you yourselves are ranked 69th... you just look, well.. hurt.
You guys hurt?
Indy-WACey "Utah" Punching Bag:
Utah signed a 4-star WR (Lewis). Sure, he was a JUCO recruit, rather than a high schooler, but which recruit do you think experts will be predicting to provide a more immediate impact? A mature WR with 2-yrs collegiate experience? Or a teenage OL with none?
Next time, don't be so frantic and emotional.
A lot of fans from Provo's school of Pharisees are posting on this article about the Utes.
Utes had higher recruiting ranking (according to Rivals, ESPN, Scout, and 24 7 sports).
Utes addressed QB need. Learned lesson from Wynn injury. Manning looks like a great Pro-style QB. Cox is a dual threat. Thomas is very quick. At least they'll have options when it comes to QB position. I've heard rumors Thomas may only play QB if needed; probably play a different position. That may be incorrect.
Decent class for Utes.
Mount Olympus, from what I've read, Thomas is expected to be a defensive back at Utah, which is what made him take so long to make his decision, as Air Force was interested in him as a QB prospect.
He just figured he would have a better chance of making the NFL as a DB from Utah, than a QB from AFA.
Utah fans: another good recruiting class. Ranked #41. That's ahead of Miami and Wisconsin (whom we don't play) and just behind Arizona and Oregon State (whom we do play).
#11 UCLA
#13 USC
#18 Washington
#21 Oregon
#29 California
#32 ASU
#36 Arizona
#37 OSU
#41 Utah
9th in the PAC 10.2 in recruiting, with 7 guaranteed conference losses in 2013 - Arizona, ASU, Oregon, USC, UCLA, OSU and Stanford - and the Utes hoping to pick up one win against BYU, Utah State, or Oregon State to avoid finishing with worse losing season than last year and no bowl.
That about sums it up!
You all need to stop with the Utah/BYU arguments on here. BYU's national championship came in a completely different era of the game so it is impossible to compare the 2008 Utes with the 84 Cougars. Also, as a current student at the U, I have to say that I don't even consider this a rivalry anymore. Yeah, the students reacted at last year's game like it is a rivalry, but beating BYU means nothing to the Utes now. The PAC-12 championship is all that we care about. Hopefully the coaching staff can capitalize on the incredible team talent that the Utes have.
I thought this was an article about this year's college recruiting for Utah, not a lament about a team that had a great season in the previous century. Since several posts went down that road I want to remind everyone of another team. That team went undefeated, won their conference championship and was the #1 team in the AP poll at the end of the year. They also beat several top ranked teams that year and had a Heisman trophy winner. That team was the 1941 Minnesota Golden Gophers and while it is a nice historical review, it has nothing to do with the current state of college football and neither does 1984.
Now to a relevant comment about the article. For the second year in a row, Utah added more than 20 players rated 3 stars or higher. They have built a good foundation for the future and have a significantly higher rated class at #41 (according to Rivals) than either BYU at #75 or USU at #103. This was a good day for the Utes in 2013.
This is for all of you complaining about all the BYU posters on here well i was just over on the BYU article about their recruiting class , 78 comments and almost half are from utah,s so called fans trash talking about the cougars ,so everybody just needs to grow up and stop the trash talk ,i thought you were all adults but apparently we have 5 year olds from both schools posting garbage on here on both threads time to grow up.

U rushed the field THREE times for a game that "means nothing to the Utes", yet not a single Utah fan has even bothered comparing Utah's recruiting class to other schools in the PAC 12?
Just in case U were wondering,
here's how the PAC-12 (national ranking) and the Utes stacked up nationally. Good luck winning a conference title anytime EVER when you're only 9th or 10th in recruiting.

"U rushed the field THREE times for a game that "means nothing to the Utes",...?"
Utah rushed the field because they won. Look back to 2008. Utah rushed the field after beating TCU and Oregon State too. Students rush the field all the time now. You're a lesser team now. Utah's top priority now is winning the Pac-12 South. Next in line comes beating our other Pac-12 peers. Of third importance would be non-conference opponents from relevant conferences...like Michigan from the BigTen. The cougars are tied for fourth on our priority list, alongside teams such as Utah St. and Fresno St.
Get used to being #4, but cheer up...you're still more important to us than Weber St.

LOL at your spin.
It's gotta be tough pretending to be one of the big boys, when you're so embarrassed by your 9th/10th place recruiting ranking in the PAC 10.2, that can't even show your face to talk smack on a PAC 12 blog.
Get used to being a PAC 10.2 punching bag... that's all you'll ever be.
Only two seasons in the PAC 10.2 and already BYU has once again become your bowl game.
@ talkinalot
"Get used to being a PAC 10.2 punching bag..."
It could be worse. We could be the Pac 12 punching bag's independent WACey punching bag.
Three in a row, eight of the last eleven :)
@Scott
Where would mighty BYU rank in you list? Do tell
