A more effective way to combat domestic violence would be to regulate the violence based entertainment industry. Studies show that most domestic violence is committed by individuals who play violent video games and watch violent movies. If these were banned, domestic violence would be reduced dramatically.
@ JCS: Care to provide the names of those studies?
Domestic violence existed long before there were violent movies or video games. The phrase "rule of thumb" comes from the fact that it used to be legal to beat your wife with a stick as long as it was no bigger around than your thumb. It was illegal to beat your dog before it was illegal to beat your kid.
