I'm not opposed to the legislature being paid in a more equitable way. But despite what the legislature may think, the $150,000 that the change reportedly cost does mean that there is less money now in the pot for other purposes. My handicapped son has been on a state government waiting list for most of his life, over seven years. That 150k would have been enough to get several kids off of that waiting list. So the legislature should have waited until times of large budget surpluses return before addressing issues of such little importance to the overall state.
