Glad I'm in one of the states that doesn't charge the consumer the charge.
A point curiously left out of this article is that the fee is entirely optional for the retailer. They can choose to charge the fee or not. Other reports have indicated that many major retailers are hestitant to do that.
Cash is expensive as well. There's more theft from employees, robberies and they have to hire the armed trucks to pick it up and the banks even charge a fee to count it.
One of the main reasons stores offer cash back is to offload some of that burdensome cash.
I will surely let businesses who charge a differential know that I will be taking my business elsewhere.
For consumer, having a record of expenses is worth more than trying to keep track of cash expenditures.
Don't be fooled, one way or another (higher prices anyone?) everyone that uses a card does pay this fee!
Does this apply to debit cards as well?
