A win is a win but this effort won't beat the good teams in the league. Corbin did give Burks some minutes tonight so I'll give him some credit for that but I'm sure witihin a game or 2 Burks will be stuck on the bench all night again. Marvin Williams got the most playing time on the team tonight with over 36 minutes which really boggles my mind. He got 11 points and 7 rebounds which for him is big numbers but I'm just afraid that Corbin will be inspired to play him more based on this break out game (just being sarcastic here). Kanter gets just over 4 minutes and gets 2 points and 2 rebounds but you can't even get into the game flow in 4 minutes coming off the bench. Yes I know I have never played or coached in the NBA so why should I think I have the right to criticize Corbin? I'm just a Jazz fan and a proud American so I do feel fortunate to have the freedom to speak my mind even if others disagree. Corbin is not good - sorry!
Big deal- Jazz barely beat a lower echelon team at home after getting shellacked by a mid level team. Pretty disappointing given the potential of the younger players on the bench and the lackadaisical performance of the veterans.
This Utah Sports Media for the Jazz reminds me of the National Media for our President. They keep trying to get us to drink the kool-aid on how wonderful this team is. Come on guys!!!
Hey, it was a win but . . .
When the Jazz were down 24 - 12 in the first quarter, I didn't have much hope. They looked sluggish and disinterested. They pulled it out in the end but it was much harder than it should have been.
And now for a more realistic look at what happened last night.
1. The Jazz came out almost as sluggish as they did durng the Houston game. The defense looked bad and they went down by double digits and were booed in the first quarter.
2. The Jazz faithful sat on their hands most of the night, reluctant to get their hopes up.
3. The Jazz came close to blowing a double digit lead in the fourth quarter.
4. The 17,340 (heh heh, right) gathered left a bit happier but still smarting from two nights ago. Scratching their heads as to why a team that has only won 8 road games could give us such fits.
Last night even showed more reason why Burks should be converted to our starting PG.
A wins is a win with this erratic team. Lsst nights win did not demonstrate any kind of a comeback, it only assured many of us that we will be looking at more losses in the future whern the big boys come to town. I like our bench and wish I could see more of them. They are the hope of the future so let them play lots of minutes. In the meantime we should deal with our coaching and management problems.
Carroll has the 2nd highest plus-minus rating on the team and yet only played 11 minutes last night. Still managed a plus 14 in those 11 minutes while all of the starters were in the negative.
By the way Jefferson and Foye have the two worst plus-minus ratings on the team for the year. Well into the negative.
I have never coached in the NBA before but the stats don't lie. Our team scores more points than their opponents when Carroll and Kanter are on the court and scores less points than their opponents when Jefferson and Foye are on the court.
Pretty sure you have to score more points than the opponent in order to win games.
The good Jazz team better show up for the Bulls game next friday, cuz I don't want to waste my time there.
jazz barely won against gordon-less hornets. vets played more than 30 min. kanter and favors played 4, 22 min each. jazz please trade someone and force corbin to play young guys.
Al Jefferson is a joke! Watching him lazily play on offense, and then miss every defensive opportunity. A starting center should grab more than 5 boards in a game. I would NEVER trust him as a "go to guy". He is inconsistent at best! I like Corbin, but basing his offensive assault on Jefferson's ability is a frightening thought. My friend asked me why we don't play a straight up man defense-and i had to explain to him that the only hope we have is to use a helping defense, because Jefferson will never put an effort out there. Even in help, Millsap has to cover his and Jefferson's area. On offense, Jefferson looks like a 5 year old playing offense-watching the ball move around and then be shot. If it does come to him, just know he will shoot it regardless of the shot quality or whether or not someone was open. Jefferson needs to be on the trading block. PERIOD. In the excuse of a game the other night, Kanter in 10 minutes of play matched Jefferson. I love my jazz, but jefferson insults what it means to be a part of Jazz Nation
So with Memphis dumping contracts like wild fire how far behind are ither teams? Will teams like Miami or LA dump one of their big 3 or to get lower in tax territory? Most importantly have the Jazz put together a team that could win it all in the next 3-5 years when teams dump salray to get under luxury tax?
I can see Milsap, Favors, Mo Williams, Kanter, Hayward, Burks all being well compensated and yet the Jazz being under the cap while competing for a title in a cap restricted NBA. Some teams will have 2 max contracts but at anywhere between $35M and $45M wrapped up in 2 players will have to dig deep to get a bench or supporting cast and stay out of tax territory. Utah could have 5-6 solid players and still have left over room for a cast.
Milsap 8-10M
Favors 8-10M
Hayward 8-10M
Burks 5-8M
Mo - 8-10M
Best case get them all for about $40M. Worst case get them for about $50M.
I like the Jazz's future!
