Should we just call this the BYU paper? The school doesn't really don't need a campus newspaper, because the Deseret News is doing it all for them. BYU, BYU, BYU.

We've already had articles about Pitta.

Why not write about all of the other players Bronco recruited and put in the NFL?

Pitta is the Man!!!!! That's why he is article worthy, not to mention it's Super Bowl Week.

1: "Big Smooth". LOVE it!

2: Article quote: "(Dennis Pitta) was drafted in the fourth round in 2010 — one round after the Ravens took tight end Ed Dickson — but has overtaken him in the passing game." Yep, just like we always knew Pitta would.

3: Methinks the one poster above hates BYU because he has a problem with the religion which sponsors BYU.

Go Cougars and go Pitta!!

I've seen plenty of articles about former Ute Alex Smith in the Deseret News so I'm not sure what Chris B and JayTee are complaining about.

That said, I do think that BYU fans form a larger portion of the readers and so it's natural for the paper to cater to that.

My goodness Ute fellows.... whaaaaa. Someone call the Whaaaambulance. Give it a rest. The paper writes for its readers. There are simply more people interested in BYU related stories than about other Ravens. Smart.

No one forces you to read the DesNews. Stick with the Trib then, bro.

Jay tee and Chris - They just had a real nice article about Alex Smith, and several feature articles about U of U basketball - but I don't recall seeing you post on those. I the D news didn't post anything about BYU sports what would you do with all your new-found spare time?

Haha, like always Ute fans on here complaining about something BYU related.

TIP: Read the headline and notice that it is about BYU and skip it. Simple solution to all (ok a lot) of your life's problems.

JayTee if you haven't learned by now The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints own Dnews as well as BYU. Don't you think it makes sense the church's paper would favor its writing towards its own school?

I find it funny how people get fed up with the dnews and there favoritism of schools. What you have all failed to realize is no one is forcing you to read these articles.

My main man Dennis! I knew he would be successful in the NFL and in life. Not only is he a great football player but he's a great person. Go Dennis!!!

Wish Andrew George could have played in the years after Pitta rather than playing at the same time. Still waiting for the next great BYU tight end. Where are you? We need you.

There's a great article in the paper about A. Smith asking for a release. After all this was his best football. It just took it eight years to get there.

Unlike Tom Holmoe, I hope that Pitta catches 3 TD passes AND that the Ravens win the game.

@JayTee - "Should we just call this the BYU paper? The school doesn't really don't need a campus newspaper, because the Deseret News is doing it all for them. BYU, BYU, BYU."

The next thing JayTee will be wondering is why the Rocky Mountain News has more articles about the Buffs than the Utes.

Media Lesson 101: You publish material that draws the most eyeballs. That's why ESPN was excited to pick up BYU. It's not because ESPN is owned by the church. It's because BYU draws a bigger crowd than anything else they could put on the tube during these time slots.

If DNews thought more readers would read info about the U, it would be here.

Good luck Pitta!! Or should I say the Big Smooth!

The DesNews caters to the demands of its readership, such as JayTee and Chris B. Those two are examples of folks who prefer to read and comment on BYU articles. Seems the irony is lost on them.

If they got out more and saw more of the world, they'd understand the same thing happens in all media markets. Take Baton Rouge, for example. Here they write about LSU more than any other school. Yes they occasionally comment on Southern, Tulane, and a few others, but its mostly LSU and mostly about the players they think people might be interested in reading about.

Being too balanced is a sure way to go out of business. Good thing certain aforementioned folks aren't in the media business!

I am a big Cougars and 49ers fan and Pitta will make great plays during the Super Bowl. Have fun and good luck which I will root for you except the Ravens.
