Since when did "in the arena of the arts" make you a hero? What makes the arts so special? I think you are being a little generous in using the word hero in this regards.
The arts are incredibly beneficial to mental development and are one of the main facets of each culture in the world. I think that it would have been more impressive if he had been involved in arts education improvement for schools or something like that, and not just on the board of Pioneer Theater Company.
