The one hope we have as a state is Weber State and that's not looking to promising. The U's only chance is the Pac12 Tourney and that's not looking good. The Y's only chance is beating Gonzaga at home and St. Mary's on the road and in the WCC tourney, not likely. Utah State was in the driver's seat, then more players out to injury. SUU yeah right.

Its too bad, because basketball in this state has long been a winning tradition. This year, not so much.

If BYU beats SMC on the road, Utah State at home, and wins every other WCC game (sans Gonzaga), they will still be on the bubble heading in to the conference tournament.

Assuming Santa Clara can stay in the RPI top-100, BYU, at the time of the final Gonzaga game, would be 4-6 against RPI top 100. Finishing over .500 against RPI top-100 would require a conference championship going through SMC and Gonzaga. It is going to be tough for the Cougars to get there

I disagree with the article. If BYU beats St. Mary on the road and beats them again in the WCC semifinal (which will likely be who the Cougars face) to get to the championship game against Gonzaga, they might get in as long as the game against Gonzaga is competitive and close. If BYU beats Gonzaga either on Feb 28th at Provo or the WCC championship game they are in. If BYU loses both games against St. Mary in there two more attempts at them and if they can't beat Gonzaga, then NIT will be what BYU gets.

The state may get shut out but the only sure thing at this point is that utah will not get in. They won't get into any post season tournament. While looking unlikely nothing else is decided a this point.
