The Jazz have been doing a lot of good things. However, the blowing of big leads is not one of them. They continue to show that they have a big problem at point guard. Neither Foye nor Hayward are point guards. Both suffer with their shooting when they have to handle the ball. Mo Williams can't get back quickly enough. However, that will not be for another month. Until that time, the Jazz will continue to sputter. Jefferson has been playing well. However, his 15 million dollar salary is a luxury that they probably can't afford. Both Favors and Kanter appear to be ready for "prime time". Both continue to have high scoring and rebound ratios for their short amounts of time played. Nevertheless, this could be skewed against lesser competition. The Jazz have some decisions to make before the trade deadline in late February. Obviously, there has been great progress made. Management just needs to take it to a higher level with further high level decisions.
The Jazz have a nasty habit of poor first and third quarter lapses, and closing out games. The common thread, the starting team who defend badly in the middle and on the perimeter. Wake up Corbin.
Besides the Jazz's lack of the killer instinct, two things bother me. Al gets the ball and waits around to be double teamed when a lot of times he is free enough to spin the the basket and score. The Jazz seldom to never pass the ball to the first cutter. Many times the first cutter is free because the other team knows the first cutter will not get the ball so they do not defend closely. I realize what the team is trying to do in both cases but they need to be more flexible.
One overtime, squeaky victory does not equal success...just shows us that the raw material is there if properly utilized, trained, motivated, and coached. Please, they are hardly avengers.
the game was enjoyable even if it showed us our weakness in spots.
The Jazz played well enough, but almost let another get away. Hayward forgot to hug the sideline more on that last turnover, that's all...he's plenty good enough as a ball handler to share duties bring the ball up. Let's see Alec Burks in at point more...that gives the Jazz a legitimate jump shooter if Foye is not on the floor.
Indiana is one of the teams where Utah's weak front court rebounding if playing bigger teams stands out. Favors usually looks dominant down low defensively, but against Indiana, he looked ordinary at times. This is another example of why Favors and Kanter need to play together and play more, and I'm hoping that will be the case by March.
we need to change the coach...Alvin Gentry is free...i'll snag him before someone else does...i'd trade Big Al and Paul Millsap before the deadline...we need a new coaching staff that excels in developing young talent...and tap or ask or pay legends to train them...make favors and kanter contact moses malone or karl malone for help...ask reggie miller if he would mind training hayward and/or burks...might as well ask Stockton to train Hayward and burks as well...i hope...they wont wait till they are in the middle of their careers before asking some legends to help them out with their game...im sure they'll improve by leaps and bounds...
There are many cmmmon areas of agreement, sincerity, and truth in these posts...all good. Hope it gets back to those who need to read them.
I just want to say one thing. Play favors and kanter +30 min. The future is now
