Where are the ethics in bowing down to industries to allow them to pollute and expand thus increasing the pollution of the Wasatch valley? Perhaps it is the Governor who should be under an ethics probe. Perhaps that pretty photograph behind the Governor should be replaced with a real time photo of the smog blanket over SLC!

Circle the wagons. The good, old boy club is alive and well.

Exactly what we've come to expect in Utah government.

UNBELIEVEALBE! So much for the Republican Party standing for honesty and clean government. Herbert should resign as well as Swallow. It they don't leave, start a recall process.

This whole thing does not pass the smell test. If Herbert does not see the need for an investigation, I don't see a need for him to stay in office. Herbert and Swallow both need to resign.

I see the DOT 'investigation' all over again.

There is no such thing as an investigation in a one party state.

Holy Cow, someone wants all the facts before they rush to judgment!!! Incredible. Herbert is going to get torn apart by the liberals who don't care about the facts and just want knee-jerk vengeance.

AKracker- are you kidding? Herbert doesn't "want all the facts before rushing to judgement" - that's what an investigation would be for, is finding the facts so a judgement can be made. Herbert instead wants to stick his head in the sand and avoid hearing the facts unless he's forced to- "we'll only start an investigation if he's convicted."

"Herbert said the public needs to be patient and wait for the results of the federal investigation that Swallow himself requested into the allegations..."

The only investigation Gov Herbert has said is not needed at this point is a state investigation, since the Feds are already involved. Why is that such a problem? Is it really necessary that both organizations investigate the situation? Especially since everyone is so sure the "good ol boys, one party, Utah Government" won't do anything anyway?

Those of you screaming foul here that were so concerned about others screaming foul about Rep Matheson and his video game legislation... Think about it.

Let the Feds do their thing, then we can all come running with our bags of stones.

@prodicus please read NedGrimley's comments and thank you for proving my point.

It's like a really bad Star Wars prequeal featuring Darth Sidious as Chancellor Palpatine.

So, where are those ethics we keep hearing about in regards to Republican values.

We see them here today, but it's not what they espouse.

Nice work Grimley, the libs are out enmass on this one. How is it that they can not stand to be wrong without throwing fits. Go Utah...a really great place to live and raise kids.

Pagan, focus on our national goverment, it is a disgrace. they need your help. Go after them.

why is it to much to ask that our attorney general not moonlight with sleazy folks who want to bribe a United States senator? why is it to much to ask that our attorney general not moon light period? Why isn't the Governor asking any questions?

Elcapitan, I did focus on our national government.

What WMD's were found in Iraq? In 2013 what motivation did we have to invade Afghanistan?

Obama, is on his 2nd term and the war in Iraq is over.

Don't ignore the issue my friend.

We have blatant examples of corruption in our local government.

Voting is a lot like driving.

Dont do either, blind.

@Elcapitan: "focus on our national government, it is a disgrace" is exactly what the corrupt elements of the state party want. "Don't shine the light in our corner, just trust us that there aren't any roaches here, go look somewhere else."

Many Republicans elected to state offices are hopelessly out of touch with the desires of the majority here on local issues and are incapable of honestly representing their constituents on these issues - c.f. the GRAMA legislation. They continue to win elections by grousing about national issues and laboring to out-conservative their opponents on these issues, which are often utterly irrelevant to their office. The result: rather than focusing on good local government, our state legislature is preoccupied with passing "message bills" trying to assert authority over federal issues, even when they've been advised by their own legal counsel that what they're doing is unconstitutional and will cost the state money in the courts.

I'm no liberal. Anywhere else in the nation, I would be considered a radical conservative. Here in Utah I guess I'm a moderate. But I'm fed up with our unrepresentative and corrupt state party.

Here is a fact from last November's election that all you whiners need to remember:

For Governor:

68% voted for Governor Gary Herbert
25% voted for Peter Cooke

All you whiners have been telling us Republicans that Barack Obama won, so we need to deal with it.

Likewise, the significant majority of Utah voters, by a much larger margin of 2-to-1, have chosen Gary Herbert to be Governor of this State. Deal with it.

That doesn't make it moral or ethical.

That sort of blind Party loyalty kills a Democracy.

and FYI - Secretary of State Clinton just got grilled on her watch over mistakes made in Benghazi.
I wonder how you guys would've blown a gasket had President Obama told Attorney General Eric Holder not to have a public hearing and only have a panel comprising of Democrats look into the matter?

Moral?
Fair?
Ethical?
The right thing to do?

Ya - the Double standard shown here, and the assumed moral high-ground by Utah Republicans [mnay of the LDS for that matter] is astounding beyond all description.
