Some faithfully LDS try & do not like the LDS saturated-community experience. It's a phobia of not feeling unique or "special" enough. Perhaps this was in Jabari's thoughts?
Well motivated LDS kids should be more concerned about what they're giving than what they're getting when they choose a college. He can be a great example of an LDS kid to a lot of people who have never had the chance to associate with one. Duke is fine university, no one should begrudge anyone for choosing to go there. BYU is a fine school too. Blossom where you choose to plant yourself and it's all good in the long run.
