I'm glad to see Utah getting a good grade in this, because we really do have many forward-thinking policy makers and education leaders who are supportive of charter schools. I really appreciate the progress made in the past 10 years, and the many opportunities open to families now that help them find the right education for their child.
Sonia is right - our legislators listen and aren't afraid to do what's best for kids.
Congratulations Utah! May we keep moving forward toward an excellent education for every student.
Carolyn,
You are correct in that our legislators listen.... to certain people and special interest groups. Not saying that charter schools are a bad thing, but many legislators who have pushed charter schools have also profited personally from that push. Charter schools have certainly been good for some kids, but lets slow down with the idea that the legislature is doing what is forward thinking and doing what is best for kids simply because they are proponents of charter schools.
