There was a similar documentary that was at Sundance about ten years ago called "Standing in the Shadow of Motown." This was about backup singers commonly called "The Funk Brothers" that helped make all those great 1960s hits such as "Like a Heatwave," "Dancing in the Streets," and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." I look forward to seeing this one as well.
I had it on good authority (DesNews commenters on other Sundance articles) that Sundance offered nothing but filth and porn. How could they be wrong?
