Great work. Coach K has done an impressive job with the program. This is a big step forward. The next step is when people start saying things like "the Utes are for real." I don't think we are all that far from that.

Indy,

Of course they're Jekyll and Hyde, they are young. But what we see on the floor is talented players who are working hard, AND improving. This team will continue to have some head scratching losses, but will also have their fair share of really impressive wins. One thing that is obvious, however, is that coach K and his staff are doing a GREAT job recruiting, and a GREAT job coaching them up. The progress is impressive, and, given the commitments for next season, I expect it to continue.

The Utes are awesome!

I think we might be going to the Final Four!

And we're in the PAC 12 now!

Oh my gosh, our team is so great!

Did I mention that we are in the Pac 12 now?

Its great to be a Ute!

You have to go to the BYU related articles to see comments from Chris B. I don't think she even reads the Utah articles.

Great win for the Utes, but you guys are dreaming if you think Coach Krysto will be around for years to come. One above average season and an offer from a semi-decent school and he will be gone faster than the players left when Boylen was let go.

By the way, didn't I see somewhere that Boylen is now a head coach in the NBA? He wasn't good enough to coach at the U, but he is good enough for the NBA???

What is going on up on the hill?

Couple of things to get you up to speed.

1 - You're right, Coach Krystowiak is a good enough coach that he could get snatched up in a hurry. Here's the beautiful thing, Utah already has a fantastic coach-in-waiting with Assistant Coach Tommy Connor. He played at the U, coached under Majerus and then left to be head coach at Westminster where he built an excellent program. The job's Tommys to lose whenever it comes available.
2 - Wrong Jim Boylen/Boylan.

So what's going on up on the hill? Good things my friend ... very good things!

A little reality check about the chances of the Utes finishing 15-15 or better:

The Utes won't come anywhere close to shooting 60 FG% every game, so unless they learn to adjust their plodding style of offense when circumstance dictate, Utah will continue to struggle.

--------------

True but it is also true that IF Utah had only shot their season average of 45% they would have beat BYU, ASU, Arizona, and CSN which would put them at 13 wins.

So if they want to give themselves a shot at finishing with 15 wins they need to shoot 45%, play the same style defense, continue to get good guard play from Taylor, and Loveridge needs to create more in the paint.

IF BYU had scored 7 more points in 3 football games...

If... blah blah blah

Nice try

True, both teams are mediocre.

The difference is Utah basketball is rebuilding their program and we still have 13 games to rebuild for next year.

"The difference is Utah basketball is rebuilding their program and we still have 13 games to rebuild for next year."

Utah basketball has been "rebuilding" since 2005. True, Utah actually looks like they're improving this year. Also true, this is a senior-dominated team that will be losing Washburn, DuBois, and Martin at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Utah will improve to being a conference contender and NCAA tournament team, or meerly a perennial middle of the PAC and NIT team.

"The difference is Utah basketball is rebuilding their program..."

Three of Utah's five starters are seniors.

Three of BYU's five starters are sophomores.

Who's really rebuilding here?

The real difference is a rebuilding year for BYU means having another 20+ win season and being a NCAA bubble team; a rebuilding year for Utah is having another losing season and a first round exit in the conference tournament.

I am surprised Chris B. has not made any comments. She usually is one of the first to laud a Ute win."

Too busy trying to chasing the next BYU news story.

Anyways, congrats on the good win Utah. Washington is or was anyways, one of the Last Four Out according to Lunardi.
