This was a painful game to watch; Davies, Austin, Harward, Sharp...can these guys even play this game? It's scary how bad these guys play most of the time. Davies plays like a freshman, not a senior, and he makes so many dumb plays, it's kind of shocking actually. SD was not a very good team, just very average, and they made Davies, Austin and Harward look silly most of the night. Without Haws, BYU would have gotten beat, and Haws didn't play all that well either. And what's happened to our 3 point shooting? good grief, we were awful tonight...on our home court; what are these guys going to do in Spokane next week?

I don't know why Delgado is in Rose's doghouse, but he's better than Zylstra, better than Cusick. Rose better recruit some quality bigs because the one's we have are not going to cut it next year.

Congratulations to our great BYU basketball coach, Dave Rose! 200 wins--awesome! I thought the interview by Steve Cleveland with Coach Rose after the game on BYUtv was outstanding and quite emotional. Steve brought Dave Rose as an assistant into the program when he was called to be the head coach at BYU. Then Cleveland left an outstanding program and headed for greener pastures at Fresno, or so he thought. Now he is back as a broadcaster. With a heart full of love, abiding friendship, and support (and I think a lot of emotion) he congratulated Coach Rose on his 200th win. I wonder how it would have played out if Cleveland had stayed. Two great men!

Go Cougars!

Dumper...couldn't agree more! WCC is weak this year. One ranked team who lost to Butler tonight! They will end up around 17-20 ranking this next week.

The Cougars would be better if they were playing LV, SDSU, Wyoming and NMexico this year...SF, SD and Pepperdine are weakening you all.

I've been critical of Rose's filling up his rooster with stiffs in place of working the curcuit, for a long time. When it was announced that Harward and Austin both 6"8-10 and 215 lbs with little in the way of a shot and having little athletic or physical gifts were coming, I was in complete shock. You really think you can put these kids on the floor with the big kids from Baylor, Marquette, Kansas State? Then Cusick and Sharp, it's just too many with too little. I won't get into the lowly regarded JC kids, but it's going to take more than the Lone Peak kids who will come into the program sporadically over the next 3 to 5 years to achieve a high level of success. Haws is awesome but the team needs so much more, you can't have just 1 shooter and compete vs tough teams. UNLV, SDS, NM, all fine but then there is football driving the bus, the MWC is really poor.

I think the criticisms are a little too harsh. They just came off a heart breaking loss so I expected somewhat of a let-down. Davis played better than last game but I still think he is over-rated. Carlino is a great passer and can create his own shot. It's just that he is inconsistent and sometimes impatient. Zylstra is showing leadership and getting better.
I still say this is a tough conference. Gonzaga is probably the best team in the West despite their loss to a ver good Butler team. They beat many of the top teams in the big 12.
BBall-wise, MWC is the best conference in the West.
