I was crushed to see the Cougars lose the game at the buzzer. I have to say though that Matthew Dellavedova is sick! That shot he made at the buzzer was phenomenal. He's definitely first team All American material along with All Academic honors. The Cougars need to make some improvements in their game though. First, the Cougars need to stop playing zone defense when it does nothing against the other team's perimeter. That's what cost them their big lead. Second, Brandon Davies needs to learn to stay out of foul trouble so much. He's BYU's only big man who can make a difference night after night. Also, the other Cougs on the court need to step it up so Tyler Haws can make more assists. The Cougars need a win at Saint Mary's to save face.
Then from now on hold court and "show the love" at home don't ever let a team do this again!
you have to have players that play until the final buzzer sounds...that means the last 2.5 seconds...cover your man, including the guy throwing the ball in...it is still the game...even in grade school and junior high, you play til the end...and all good coaches have especial coverages for the last minute and last few seconds...although it was an unbelievable shot at the end, why not make it difficult? to throw the inbounds pass; to get the ball down the floor; to dribble; to shoot? there are numerous things your whole team of 5 guys must do to defend in final seconds...you can get beat on a dribble, you can get faked out, you can get outjumped...but you gotta be in position no matter what..I don't believe all 5 cougars were!
