This "watch" went from cute, to annoying, to pathetic.

The guy isn't a true "athlete." He is a shooter who doesn't do anything else. And even his shooting is around 40% these days.

A slow unathletic short 40% shooter is not in high demand these days

Kind of like the blogger who posted that comment.

Jimmer just needs to get on a team that can utilize his skill set and he'll be a solid contributor. It's hard for a spot-up shooter to excell on a team that plays one-on-one ball.

@christina b

I notice none of you utah "fans" are making any more comments about alex smith being benched for the vastly superior Kaepernick anymore.

LOL!

Thanks for the Jimmer updates. He isn't playing great and is on the wrong team but I think he is playing well enough to stay in the NBA. I would love to see him move on to another team better suited to his abilities.

Look like Lillard doing great with the right team at Portland but what if he played on this disfunctional team of Sacramento? Free Jimmer. Just play well Jimmer.

Jimmer started out the New Year with horrible shooting stats. It does look like he's getting more consistent minutes, however and hopefully he can settle into a groove. I suspect with new management he has a chance to be traded to a team where his talents can be put to better use.

Meanwhile Lillard is being mentioned as Rookie of the Year. As "DEW Cougars" pointed out, its amazing what happens when you get with the right team and the right system.

If Jimmer played on a different team, he would be much better than Lillard.

Way to go Lillard! His big game in front of his home town in Oakland was awesome. It's fun watching him.

What would be interesting is if we could all see Lillard doing the same thing for the Kings as he's doing in Portland, because he probably would be. The team wouldn't necessarily be doing all that much better, but Lillard would have just as good of stats as he currently has if not better.
I understand everyone wanting Jimmer to succeed, but to think it's all about the Kings is very short sighted. Sorry, but Jimmer just isn't that great. But hey, 91% free throw shooting is pretty awesome!

Mildred: If Jimmer played on any other team he would be better than Labron James and Mickael Jordan combined.

Labron should change his last name to Jimmer. Labron Jimmer
Chris B is wrong, we need these updates daily, if not hourly. This is Jimmer nation afterall.

I say keep Jimmer Watch going as long as it's annoying the usual suspects. Their disgust is simply delightful!

And as for the "but . . but . . but what about Lillard?" crowd, here are a few real-life numbers to throw at you, without subjective bias to cloud the issue. I know advanced stats might be a little . . advanced for you, but there is actually a story to be told beyond looking at per-game averages:

D. Lillard:

16.65 PER
.422 FG%
.359 3FG%
.835 FT%
1.19 Scoring Efficiency (points per shot)
.496 Shooting Efficiency
2.1 Assist to TO Ratio

James Fredette

17.65 PER
.430 FG%
.427 3FG%
.914 FT%
1.32 Scoring Efficiency (points per shot)
.512 Shooting Efficiency
1.35 Assist to TO Ratio

Lillard is a stud and may well be a perennial all-star. I'm from Ogden, and I hope it happens. But right now, his per-game averages dwarf Jimmer's primarily because of playing time. In any "efficiency" category except assist-to-TO, Jimmer's got him. Sorry; facts is facts.

SlopJ30, you got me, bro. I didn't want to admit it was "burn" or play time. I enjoy seeing Jimmer riding the pine because then I know he won't make headlines.

I confess, though, that if he got burn (e.g., 30+ min per game), he'd be scoring 20-30 pts per game (and probably have half a dozen assists). And, since I'm now confessing...I'll confess he really does have some athletic moves from time to time, slicing through multiple defenders to get lay-ins and reverse shots. And his crossover dribbles and fade-aways can impress from time to time. I just didn't want to admit it.

Smart is my man, because he knows how to bury a talent. JImmer will have to wait for another team to let his light shine. And I'm OK with that.

SlopJ30,

Jimmer's stats come against the bench and reserve players on the other team while Lillard's comes against starters. More minutes for Jimmer wouldn't necessarliy mean he would follow his per minute average because he would be playing against better talent.

I have nothing against Jimmer, I think his college game was a little ball hoggish, but some really seem to like that, whereas I prefer a team-oriented player. I really just find the obsession with Jimmer by the D-News concerning--it borders on Kathy Bates obsession with James Caan in Misery.

One fact though--Lillard is better than Jimmer. Let's not make a mockery of this comment board and suggest Jimmer would be better given a better situation. Lillard is a better talent, and a better team player.

For those of you who want to diss jimmer the fact is he is the number 1 free throw shooter in the nba. He is currently number 3 in 3 point shooting for the the whole nba. He is a much improved defender versus last year. He doesn't get alot of assists but that could be cause no one on sacramento knows how to move without ball. His 2 point percentage's are a little lower only because most of those shots were taken from 3 point range. Try to get the facts and understand the game and then maybe you will make comments that are based on reality and not your own personal biases!
