Looks like a great athlete. The future is bright on the hill!
Congrats and welcome to the young man. Some other great undecided players were taking their visit along with him, hopefully one or two of them will follow suit.
Good to see Utah is starting to replenish their defense after the loss of starters this year, get some good DE for some depth now!
Now if we can just get Lowell Lotulelei to jump back on-board, the Utes recruiting class would be awesome!
Welcome home Hipolito! Better a Ute than a Cavalier any day!
Jefe-Ute:
Utah already has signed LOIs for JUCO transfers Lewis (WR), Orphey (DB), Reese (TE), and Albers (OL), and 22 additional recruits' commitments. Should all sign, and Utah receives no more commitments, that'll bring the class of 2013 to 26.
Plus Rivals still lists Utah as the top choice for the uncommitted Siale Fakailoatonga (#33 TE).
I would LOVE to see Lotulelei (#33 DT) commit to the Utes, but with 26 recruits already committed, plus another who still has Utah high on his list, would we have room enough to sign him? There is a limit as to how many players a team can have on scholarship, and we handed out 28 last February.
Naval:
Lowell is most likely a sign and send, therefore, we would not have to make room for him yet. Lowell is a must take, however, no matter how much room we have or don't have.
Orphey was a great sign, especially in light of who he flipped his commitment from. Hipolito flipped from Virginia.
Naval Vet, from what I understand Fakailoatonga has already committed to UCLA should they still have room for him, and Utah hasn't been pursuing him for quite a while. Lotulelei would be a much more important commitment, and VegasUte is right, there are several players Utah would drop to have him.
Yeah I was going to say some of what VegasUte and SLC said. We already dropped 2 players to make room for bigger and better recruits. I can't see the Utes telling Lowell that they don't have room for him after taking on his brother and making him a top 5 NFL draftee. I think if Lowell wanted to come, the Utes would definitely make room.
Looks like this kid could be in the mix right away. Welcome
Over 6 feet tall and some decent speed. Has all the tools to become a good DB for the Utes.
