Awesome!!!Sorry Ducky...I know we lost and hard cores like you only
watch the W-L column, but I can't wait to see us against these two AZ
teams at the HC after another 10 games...Great job Utes...
I just said the other day, "Saturday will definitely be the best team
we'll play all year. Gonna have to make a lot more than 20 shots in that
one, but the defense can definitely compete." Apparently we needed 22 makes
since we ended up with 21. Great game, defense is still stifling even against
the nation's best competition, but they definitely can't allow 15
Another frustrating one to lose, especially with the two great looks down the
stretch. This road trip should be a huge confidence booster for the
Utes though. If you can take the #3 team in the country to the wire on their
home court, there isn't anybody you can't play with, especially in
this conference. Hopefully we can get two wins over the LA schools next week
and get back on track. We're bound to turn the corner at some point.
Defense! Defense! Defense! I am really impressed by how Coach K has this team
playing in year one in rebuliding the program!Go UTES!!
Also, I know I'm no expert, but I think Dubois should've driven it on
the big man on the second to last possession. I don't think that guy's
quick enough to stop an isolation layup attempt without fouling him, and
he's our best free throw shooter.
@ StGtoSLCI agree completely. JD came off the screen so wide open
I'm sure his instincts just took over and he put it up. It wasn't a
terrible shot, but he should have gone strong to the hole; force the D to make a
Heartbreaker once again. I'm proud of the Utes for playing their hearts out
and coming one bucket away from victory on the road against the 3rd ranked team
in the country. I'm looking forward to seeing this team break through
the barrier, they're oh so very close. And just imagine the future as more
talent gets added to the system this staff is creating. I just hope our guys
keep their heads up. Go Utes!
Utah played a great game against a very good team on the road. I honestly
didn't think they had a chance in this game but the Utes really controlled
the tempo and played good defense to slow Arizona down. Yet there they were at
the end of the game with a great chance to win it.I'm not big
into moral victories but the Utes need to keep their heads up because they
played two great road games against really good teams this week. They were as
close as you can come to beating the number 3rd ranked team in the nation. I
just hope they can keep improving and making steps forward. Eventually one of
these close ones will go our way. Jordan Loveridge looked great
today and Washburn had a great trip all around in both games. The Utes need a
few more guys to step up into the mix and make some baskets. No doubt they are
improving each week so far. They should be able to pick up their
first conference win at home against USC this week. Hopefully that will give
them a little momentum to get a few more.Go Utes!
Both teams will beat you by double fidgets on the hill. You won't be
looked past by them again.
@ Chris B's mommaWhat is a fidget?
It looks as though teams are looking past the Utes and soon teams won't be
doing that and you will see these close losses turn to bigger losses. All these
teams are just looking beyond the bad Utes and until they "upset"
someone, no one is going to really take them too seriously.
@ Eddie: Please stop posting Fidgets!! (:>)
Utah fought hard, but when you're relying on a 2-10 shooter who was 1-7
from long-range to tie the game on a running, contested 3-pointer, the odds
aren't in your favor. It'll be an interesting contrast in
styles when UCLA visits Utah on Thursday. The Bruins are 15th in the country in
scoring, averaging 80 ppg. Hard to believe, but this will be UCLA's first
road game of the season. The Bruins must really like their newly rebuilt Pauley
@indyNice to know I dominate yoour mind.Now I
didn't see the game but I can make a pretty good guess as to how it went
down. ute's played ugly, set the game of basketball back 20 years in a vain
attempt to keep the game close, arizona played down to utah's level
obviously, no doubt ugly stuff. My guess is that this sort of result
is what we will see as utah takes its boreing act the 1st time through the
pac12. Teams will get caught in the slowdown, hack it up, ugly style although
most of them will still win because they have superior talent to utah. The 2nd
time through will probably see much larger margins of victory over utah for most
of these teams as they will have already seen it and will be better prepared for
it.The style of play utah is using might work long term if utah had
talent, they might even get some wins if they had talent, but they don't so
it won't other than maybe splitting with the bad teams. Look for ua to win
by a more significant margin next time.
Ducky"Better prepared" for what? SMU came to the HC after
beating the Utes, had time to prepare and lost by 9. It's a nice theory you
have as a byU "fan" but predictable. I for one will take
"boring" and being in each game every single time. I'm sure you
remember the Majerus days when you were a season ticket holder and the style
they played then(Great D - Motion Offense). Pretty "boring" huh? lolGo Utes!
@utahcountyutemajerus is dead and so are those times, best for utah
"fans" like yourself to realize they are never coming back. I am
enjoying the false hope from you guys though. I'm sure utah isn't
going to always be terrible and talentless but they are also never going to get
back to the 90's either. It's over, done, finished. I find
it interesting that most of you can't see that what is currently happening
is simply a diversion, a vain attempt to keep things close and hope that
they'll get lucky at the end. The talent is still terrible and the style of
play is awful to behold. Shooting 30% every night and having 8 minute scoring
droughts is terrible basketball to watch.I actually don't mind
slowdown half court basketball as long as it is well executed and results in a
made basket half the time, but standing around and running the shotclock down to
4 seconds then throwing up a brick that barely grazes the rim is simply ugly
basketball and does not show an improvement, it simply shows desperate tactics.
Simple point of reference Duck. I don't suggest time travel."shooting 30% every night"The Utes shoot 46.1% from the
field and 77% from the line. The Cougs shoot 49.6% from the field and
65.9% from the line.I like the "diversion".Go
Don't try to help Ducky by presenting factual information ... he may blow
an o-ring.He also doesn't understand that defense wins championships
and has produced far more exciting games than teams lacking good defense. When a
fan knows that literally every possession matters, you find yourself sitting on
the edge of your seat the entire game. For that reason, the two games last week
were extremely fun to watch. True basketball fans find uptempo games
without a lick of defense to be an abomination. I can't stand watching
players that play with half the effort on defense that they bring on the
offensive side of the ball.As for where Ducky predicts we'll see the
Utes in years to come, lets just say this ... last year Ducky was telling all of
us that Utah basketball wouldn't make the kind of improvement they've
already made. In fact he's been so wrong on so many things in recent memory
that it's comical. In other words, if Ducky says the glory days of Utah are
behind us, we should meet this prediction with great excitement knowing that
he's almost NEVER right!
@motorbikeI love how much angst I cause you and definately love your
"frantic and emotional" replies to my posts. LOL!That said
you know very little about much and are generally wrong about almost all of it.
But let's see what I have been right about recently.Prediction
- utah football will go 5-7. Nailed that one dead on.prediction - utah
athletics immediately drops to bottom of pac12 - not one single sport posted a
winning record in the pac 12, nailed that one dead on.prediction - utah
would lose to asu and ua - uh....they lost motorboy. The truth is
pretty much everything I say about utah athletics is accurate and does occur.
Yea maybe they play a team closer than I thought they would but they still lose
and they still are brutal. Oh and I do agree that defense wins
championships, that is actually my motto in all the sports I coach, but the
difference is I also realize you have to be good all around and utah is
definately not good all around. You've got to be able to score and that is
not something utah can do.
