Navel VetI caught this nailbiter at 42 all. That's some high
scorin' game. As someone else pointed out that's as many points as
what one BYU player scored last weekend. BYU scored 92 tonite. When was the last time the Ute scoreboard was 'burned in' and
tested for that high of a number?By the way, what was with the
self-imposed exile over several weeks this past football season? Where did you
go?And yes... I was crunching my personal year end financials for my
taxes... aka tax work.
There is no way that Utah will play in the post season. Only BYU fans keep
suggesting that Utah fans think we will. No Ute fans are crowing about it. We
are in a rebuilding period and may make the NIT next year and the NCAA in a few
years.I think all the Utah fans are saying is that BYU plays pansies
in their NAIA type conference...won't even win that, has not played well
against good teams and really have only two players worth mentioning.Your conference is an embarrassment...it really is.

StGtoSLC"But you've only furthered my point that the ACC is
very similar to the Pac-12 at this point: one or two great teams, with a few
solid ones, and several others with potential for good games but overall are not
that great."Sorry to burst your crimson bubble, but what Riddles
really proved is that the PAC 12 is more like the WCC - one great team, a few
solid teams, and a scrambled mess of mediocre teams at the bottom.Projected bids:ACC(5)PAC 12(3)WCC(2)At
this point, Gonzaga and Arizona appear to be the only NCAA tourney locks, with 3
or 4 other teams from each conference still in contention for an at-large
bid.Ironically, the better Utah does in conference, the more likely
fewer PAC 12 teams will be picked for the Big Dance. A loss to Utah would be
devastating to a PAC 12 bubble team.
Silly cougar fans ... if there's truly nothing to worry about when it comes
to Utah basketball, why do they all spend so much time obsessing about it and
attempting to convince others to see things their way? Something just isn't
adding up, I'm so confused!Silly cougars, trix are for kids!
Riddles, UCLA has since sent two players packing, and are better for it. Now,
with only 8 scholarship players, is that addition by subtraction enough to
improve them to a top tier conference team with Arizona, or will injuries and
fatigue take their toll? We'll see. But you've only furthered my point
that the ACC is very similar to the Pac-12 at this point: one or two great
teams, with a few solid ones, and several others with potential for good games
but overall are not that great. BTW, the FSU game was a neutral game that FSU
had to travel over 1,000 miles for as well. And I have trouble believing any
projections that at this point have CU winning the conference over Arizona.

phoenix, so because of that we should ignore that VT lost to teams like Georgia
Southern just like we're ignoring that BYU was destroyed by a pretty
mediocre Florida State team. No, the ACC is not "the best basketball
conference in the country," the B1G is. The "weak" Pac-12 is rated
near the exact same as the ACC. What is undisputed, though, is that the WCC,
despite a very good Zags team, and Santa Clara, San Diego, Saint Mary's and
BYU, who I'm told by comment board analysts (but not by any real analysts)
are all tourney-worthy teams, is rated behind the Missouri Valley and Atlantic
10 conferences, far, behind.

Just the FAX and Uteanymous:He certainly didn't do that against
the U, did he? But that is a great night for him, and I'm sure he will
have a few more, he's a really good player. About the
improvement of the Utes, the biggest improvement is on the defensive end. They
have improved dramatically. The offense definitely still needs tons of work,
but there is no doubt the Utes have improved.
StGtoSLCIt's laughable that you dug up Va Tech's losses,
but completely ignored Va Tech's WINS over:Iowa(11-3) 95-79 and
#22 Okla St(10-2) 81-71Of course, when you're straining at a
gnat to formulate a believable bitter pill story of gloom and doom, sometimes
you end up swallowing a camel. After watching Utah's ugly clank
fest last night, it's obvious the Utes will be hard pressed to improve on
their predicted 11th place PAC 12 finish.Meanwhile, after watching
Haws' Jimmeresque performance last Saturday, it's equally obvious that
BYU could be a very good team by the end of the season.
StGtoSLCThe vast difference between BYU and Utah basketball can be
summarized in two brief statements.BYU fans are accustomed to Dave
Rose coached teams winning 25+ games and finishing the season in the NCAA
tournament and anything less would be a disappointment.Utah fans are
accustomed to Utah seasons ending in another train wreck and mass exodus and
would be thrilled just to have a break even season. The
disappointment of losing another game is a bitter pill Utah fans have gotten
Like I said, careful with that pill. It doesn't seem to be going down well.
StGtoSLC"Truth is, neither BYU nor Utah is very good. Be careful
swallowing that pill."That would be a half truth. The
truth is, Utah has improved from bad to very mediocre and BYU still has a lot of
room for improvement, but is still MUCH better than Utah.By
season's end, BYU, as usual, will have pulled way ahead of the Utes. Haws
is just getting started.
Uteanymous, if we're bringing records into it, Arizona State is 12-2,
better than VT. VT's other losses were to the worst West Virginia team in
years, Georgia Southern, and Colorado State by 36 points. It is hilarious the
doom and gloom BYU fans go through with one loss, only to elevate themselves to
a title contender with their next mediocre win. Truth is, neither BYU nor Utah
is very good. Be careful swallowing that pill.
"Yeah...against SW Missouri Tech."No dear timid sparrow.Against Virginia Tech(9-4), a member of the best basketball conference
in the country, rather than, Arizona State, a team picked to finish 10th in the
weak PAC 12.Pull-out bleachers or not, the Utes would still be a
bottom dweller in the WCC, just like they are in the PAC.
@Just the FAX"Haws, in 35 min last Saturday, by himself, scored
42 points. Utah's entire team, in regulation last night, scored 49."Yeah...against SW Missouri Tech. But I guess that's a good prep
game for your conference schedule.Question for you: When BYU plays a
WCC road game, does the home team or the road team have to show up 30 minutes
early to pull the bleachers out?
motorbike"Kinda scary imagining what will happen when Utah adds
more shooters to its roster, right?"Improving from bad to
mediocre isn't what you'd call "scary". -----------gdog3finallyYou need to update your
technology. There's this wondrous little device called a remote control
that allows viewers to switch stations instantaneously so they can switch from,
say, watching the Sugar Bowl, to say, watching the Tempe clang fest, rather than
watching boring commercials; although, with the bricks being thrown up by Utah
and ASU, the commercials may have been more entertaining.Anyway,
after all of the fuss from Utah fans about how much Utah had "improved",
some of us tuned in just to see what all of the hoopla was about, since so few
preseason Utah games were actually televised. As expected, the vast
"improvement" we were promised, turned out to be little more than a
slight improvement from past seasons. Utah is actually running some offensive
plays this year, even though their shooting is still pretty offensive.btw, Haws, in 35 min last Saturday, by himself, scored 42 points.
Utah's entire team, in regulation last night, scored 49.
sammyg:Just admit it. You got caught in your Utah obsession. You
watched the whole game last night, and sweated bullets that Utah might have won
until the final horn.P.S.: There's really not a lot of tax
work to be done on January 2nd. You just made that excuse up on the fly.
GdogDon't kid yourself, I watched the last 4 minutes and
overtime. Needed a break from tax work.Contrary to your spewing
forth of the 'hate speech' and forever whining I've never been a
hater of Ute sports, I'm a sports enthusiast. I'm not your typical
delusional Ute fan spewing hate towards BYU. I've said it several times,
I'm watching more of all sports from all teams. Some of you "fans"
go out your way to get riled up over nothing.I paid my respects to
Washburn, don't push your luck and don't confuse my pragmatic/
ambivalent opinion of Ute sports as hatred. Ute sports speak for themselves.Had the Utes won I would have maybe congratulated them but alas... they
didn't. Are you or anyone else really surprised at the outcome
or are we just 'concerned' about losing the close games and the

make it back to the title game? I for one will believe that things they are a

you change your name from motorbike to "wheelchair", or "jazzy"
Very entertaining game last night. I was watching with my brother and
couldn't help but think of Utah State's football team last year. Like
them Utah is vastly improved but is struggling with learning how to win close
cames with the five losses have come by an average of only 3.8 points (19
total). I have no doubt that they will get it figured out and start winning
some of these close games. Good luck against Arizona on Saturday.Go
Tough loss. The D looked great, I hope our shooting comes around sooner than

Uteology"Even against your team we only lost because we missed
shots down the stretch."More Utah fan delusion. U missed shots
down the stretch because BYU switched to a match up zone, forcing the Utes into
taking bad shots. As often happens with inferior teams, they wilt
down the stretch against superior teams, even when they have double-digit leads.
PAC man, I agree whining about fouls is a joke, see BYU fans' responses to
the win over Utah as the ultimate example of that joke. I wasn't whining
about it, however, just pointing out that Loveridge got undercut at the rim.
That's a call that is almost always made until the last minute of a game,
and then it is never called, so I don't argue the no call. And to answer
your question: "how many bricks did Utah bang off the glass from long range
that somehow found their way into the net?" I saw only one, the first
3-pointer from Dubois in the first five minutes of the game. But just as you and
dozens of others do with every Utah game, go ahead and recreate it in your own
mind to fit your perception of Utah basketball better, I won't think less
of you for it.
I guess sammyg and Pac Man don't have families or other important stuff to
do. I mean watching Ute games when you are a Ute hater is a pathetic.Utah is clearly improving. Not finishing strong against BYU and ASU is
concerning. I see playing not to lose rather than playing to win as part of the
problem. When you slow down play, it's hard not to think too much down the
PAC manAnaheim, CAStGtoSLCUtah was lucky to be in
this game at the end;------------Lucky? Utah
is 8-5, of those 5 losses 4 have come down to the last shot. Even against your
team we only lost because we missed shots down the stretch. We're playing good defense, but have to start recruiting shooters. Even
Loveridge is struggling.
PAC man,Is that the best you can do? You crack me up. Thanks
to you and sammyg for tuning in though, I'm glad you're both enjoying
the PAC 12 Network like I am.
The Utes need to win one of these close games. They had their chance multiple
times tonight but just couldn't pull it off. That put back would have been
huge for Loveridge and for this team.I'm not expecting they
will be able to keep they next game against Arizona close, but here is to
Great hard fought game tonight, but a bummer that the Utes couldn't hit the
last shot. I'm glad to see Utah competing on the road against a good
opponent but it's time to walk away from these games with the W.
Saturday's another story, I hope Utah can keep the game against #3 Arizona
StGtoSLCUtah was lucky to be in this game at the end; how many
bricks did Utah bang off the glass from long range that somehow found their way
into the net? And even with those lucky makes, the Utes still shot a miserable
20 of 58 from the field. Whining about fouls is a joke. ASU was whistled for 15
fouls; the Utes had only 13 fouls called on them.Washburn did play
well, but he was the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal Utah performance.
Jahii Carson was probably the best point guard we'll play this year, but
Saturday will definitely be the best team we'll play all year. Gonna have
to make a lot more than 20 shots in that one, but the defense can definitely
Crazy ending to regulation and overtime, but it was just ASU's night. Utah
gets a 3 point lead with a minute left, then a loose ball finds its way to a
pass to Carson, not a good 3 point shooter, who just knocks it down to tie it.
Then Dubois finally gets a shot to drop to take the lead in OT only to have
Carson do what he does best going to the hole. And at the buzzer, an uncalled
blocking foul causes Loveridge to miss a point blank putback that would have
won. The defense and rebounding was definitely good enough, but open shots just
can't be missed like that. Wash was fantastic, though.
Washburn played very well but it was still an ugly game and the end result... as
