Lorenzo Snow's portrait hangs over the main stairwell in the Salt Lake Temple. It is an astonishingly fine work. In the artists brush strokes there is evidence of sorrow mixed with a quiet thoughtfulness. Some say that he, like Lincoln, suffered from depression. And that he, like Lincoln, was a wise and kind man of gentle, Christlike actions who was also practical. In his life he exhibited remarkable endurance, loyalty and an sense humility, love, fairness and justice. I hope to enjoy this new book, and hope to better understand the story of man in the portrait.
