The team showed exactly how good it could be in the first half, and exactly how bad they could be in the second. I think they'll need to learn how to crush a team when they've got their foot on their throat in the second half if they want to win any conference games. That's three games now lost to middling teams after leading by double digits in the second half. Not a lot else they could have done defensively in the second half, though. If a team just knocks down contested perimeter shot after contested perimeter shot, you just gotta match the intensity offensively, but we were ice cold.

And the Ugly. Have fun during conferance games, Oh, how good are this pac 12 this year? I heard MWC are 4th nation wide.

DEW Cougars, isn't the WCC the ranked 10th as conferences go? There is something to hang your hat on. No less on a night when your team got beat bad by Baylor. Cougar fans make me laugh.

Neither the Cougs nor Utes have proven they can beat a decent team this year. Although if you really must argue about strength, U have to give it to the Cougs this year, with wins over CSNR and U. But I'll be the first to concede, we're not much better than U and not nearly as good as I thought we would be. And the Utes are better than I thought U'd be.

My prediction: the Utes will not by at .500 at the end of the season and the Cougs will not be dancing this year. Ah well, we should have a chance to win a couple of games in the NIT and future is very bright. And assuming there are no mass defections, U have build a pretty good core of young players and should be over .500 next year.

Utah fans crack me up spouting conference rankings, as if they somehow validate the hapless Utes.

On the night #47 BYU 7-4 loses on the road to #36 Baylor, the #114 Utes 6-4 blow a 21-point half time lead AT HOME to lose to #59 CS Northridge, a team BYU beat by 12 points.

An off year for BYU, is still head-and-shoulders better than the rundown Utes.

"still head-and-shoulders better than the rundown Utes."
You mean "3 points better than the rundown Utes."

Discouraging loss. This team is obviously improved but it is clear they still have some maturing to do. Bounce back on the 28th and get some momentum because the 'real' season is about to start.

This ranks right up there with the Sac State game.

There is obviously still some work to do with this team. As I watched them unravel, I couldn't help wonder why coach K didn't call a time out and or make some substitutions. The team went ice cold missing 13 shots in arrow and he kept all the same players on the floor. The only one who could score was Loveridge. I kept thinking it would be good to change things up while we still had a lead.

Ends up being a learning experience for the players and coaches I guess, but I think if they would have managed it a bit differently, they could have had a better outcome.

It was good to see Loveridge have such a good game though - he is going to be a good player for the Utes.

Go Utes!

Qwest, he called several timeouts. Tough to adjust much else when the offense keeps getting open looks that just don't go in and the defense has a hand in the shooter's face and everything goes in. I would've liked to see JD mix his game up a little more and get to the rim, though. But I guess when his shots were dropping like they were in the first half, he should feel like he could get them to in the second. They just weren't.
