@J-TX: Yes, Elder Archuleta came up just a bit flat on that last note. And I
can tell you that nobody knows that better than Elder Archuleta. I'm sure
he would love to have that note to do over again. That's one of the hazards
of live performances. What you see and hear is what you get. And yes, he has
been a bit focused on other things, so his voice isn't getting the regular
training and conditioning that he is accustomed to having. To switch metaphors,
however, I have also seen professional basketball players who make millions of
dollars shoot air balls and hit slam dunk attempts off the back of the rim.
It's all part of being imperfect humans.
Elder Archuleta's SPANISH has improved noticeably! No?I have to
snicker at the extra "security" measures they've probably had to
implement around Elder A. to keep all the Chilean girls away from him! ;^)Does anyone know which of the four Santiago missions he ended up in?
La musica del el es muy fantastica por un misionero de Dios.
I, too, am a HUGE Elder A fan. Indeed, he is a tremendous role model to so many.
Ye are the light of the world.
Actually, MoJules, they did shoot at both Elder Archuleta and the dancers
(Dave's on the left), which is good because you wouldn't want to avoid
seeing both of them. I wish they would have zoomed in on the good elder
sometimes, and individual dancers sometimes, but it looks like that video was
being shot by a phone.Pretty cool to see that, though!Heh, imagine being door-rung by this American Idol runner-up while he's
out tracting! Wouldn't that be quite a cool thing? WHOW!Happy
12/12/12 tomorrow (as I write this on Tuesday), happy 122112 a little later (the
"end of the world"), and happy Christmas and New Year!Mike
Elder Archuleta sounded great and he is such an amazing role model for people of
all ages!! LOVE him!
Very nice that LDS.org Live streamed the event. Lots of positive feedback. So
happy for Elder Archuleta and the other Missionaries to enjoy performing
Christmas songs. This one reminds me of my trip to Utah from Iowa to hear
David with the Morman Tabernacle. It also reminds me of David's Mom's
side of the family as they LOVE dancing. I'm sure David is feeling blessed
with this opportunity. So happy that most feel happy to hear David
and Deseret/LDS magazine for posting for others to enjoy outside of Chile and
Beautifully done. Obviously he has gotten a little rusty while focusing on
serving the Lord, but it was great to hear him sing. He is doing what is right
for him at this time, and the vocal abilities will return when he has time to
focus on that. I was so proud of the way he conducted himself throughout the
American Idol competition, and while I was disappointed that he got 2nd place, I
think it was better for him that he did. He has gone on to have a promising
career, has represented himself and the Church very well, and did not have the
contract obligations he would have had if he had won. He's a great young
I'm glad he got the opportunity to do this. As a missionary we sang as a
choir of about 30 elders and a handful of sisters in a shopping zone in Germany.
We weren't Elder Archuleta by any stretch, but it was a good experience.
Music can be a great missionary tool - and you don't have to be the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir to do good.
So many blessings, even rich blessings are in store for those who listened. Probably lots of baptisms.
wow he sounds great :)
If you all are interested, there are several more songs he performed at that
Christmas Celebration in Chile. Simply search "David Archuleta Santiago
Chile Christmas Celebration" and you will find him singing "O Holy
Night" and "Silent Night" as well.
Elder Archuleta is a wonderful role model for other aspiring and talented youth!
Thanks for serving the Lord! Thanks for continuing to share your love of music!
Well Done Elder Archuleta! I love missionaries!
Great to hear him. He's stil got it!
Everyone's a critic, eh, J-TX? Wonder if you'd be a little pitchy if
you were focusing on sharing the gospel and not training your vocal chords?
Wow. Looks like the Grinch needs a little Christmas spirit.
The dancers were wonderful. Too bad their names weren't listed.Elder David almost hit the last note.....
southmtnman: What are you talking about? This was great! Fun to see
Elder A. sharing his talents again. This looked like some person who used
his/her video camera to film a daughter dancing and captured the singer as well.
Invalid content?Did somebody fail to do the homework?
Didn't sound like a huge crowd, and they didn't film him, but the
dancers. Just the way it should be. It wasn't about him, it was about
sharing, sharing his talent, sharing others talents and sharing the spirit of
the Gospel and Christmas.
Ok, I'm not a raging fan of David Archuleta, but this is awesome! Great
job, Elder! I love how anyone and everyone can use their talents to share the
