They couldn't have made a better choice. Teuscher will do a great job and
turn things around!
No where to go but up with this assignment. Been watching Copper Hills for many
a year and they seldom place a winning product on the field. I have to believe
their kids are placing their pads on, one leg at a time, just like other
schools, but never receive the desired results. It's a culture thing at CH
and until they bring in a Majeras/Meyer type of coach it'll likely remain
the same 'ol song. You know the tune, high expectations - beat
Hillcrest/Taylorsville in the pre-season - Lose to West Jordan/Kearns - Get
worked by all other region foes. Same 'ol song every year. Here's to Coach Teuscher doing something special on the District's
West Side. I'll be there to witness whatever the out come is.
Winning starts with attitude and the willingness to put in the hard work in the
off-season. CH has always had talent, but not showing up for practices, not
lifting and running, and not caring makes all the difference.Kids at
Bingham and Alta and other top football programs are already working hard every
day to make themselves faster and stronger, hopefully Coach Teuscher will be
able to instill a work ethic into the program to help them be successful.Unfortunately CH has somehow got to compete in a region with Alta, Bingham,
Brighton, and Jordan which is by far the toughest football region in the state.
Success in Region 3 for CH would mean making the playoffs.
Copper Hills has always been a mystery to me. They underachieve in most
programs, not just football. They seem to be a sleeping giant, among the
highest enrollments in the state. But for some reason nothing much clicks
there. Right next door is Bingham which achieves success. Herriman and Riverton
are making noise while West Jordan's athletic program is generally
mediocre, basketball aside. But there is no reason why Copper Hills
couldn't do well, it has relatively new facilities, it has the very high
enrollment numbers. But I think it goes just beyond coaching. There is a
culture of losing that has enveloped the school and community...
Where is the article on the new Westlake football head coach who was hired over
a week ago?
