Congratulations to James Lark...it is tempting to wonder if some of this year's losses could have been wins with him at the helm, but obviously NMS defense isn't very good this year. How much of who starts has to do with pre-conceived notions about who has earned a right to start, even if it costs the team a better chance to win the game? Kudos to Riley Nelson's grit, yet Lark does appear to be the better passer.
Too bad Lark sat with 8 minutes left. ANother 8 minutes he'd have had the all-time school record in TD passes in a game, and Hoffman might have another TD or two to add to his record. Couldn't have that though! Lark setting a school TD record in his one and only start as a Cougar would have been a travesty--a stain Bronco would never live down. Bad enough as it is for him to have stand on the sideline yesterday and and stoically watch (unwillingly) as his poor QB decisions all year were laid out in the open for all to see and judge. Lark hit crisp pass after pass, tight spiral after spiral, showing ALL OF US that yeah, BYU did actually have a vertical passing game this year. It just sat on the sideline all year as wobbly duck pick-6's doomed us in every loss. I love Bronco Mendenhall as one of the best DC's in the business. He just shouldn't be the HC.
