U 90Ah, how cute, but you conveniently forgot to mention your
team's loss to USU, who BYU defeated and the fact that you're upset
that your team could not even make the grade for the Kraft Fight Hunger, Las
Vegas, or the New Mexico Bowl.
Utah seems to have the ability to develop 2 or 3 star players into NFL caliber
players--Smith, Weddle,R.Johnson,Shelby,Pua etc, were all 2 or 3 star as is Star
L. Even the best player in Provo was a 2 star recruit ( Hoffman)- Some of the
biggest disappointments have been 4 & 5 star, and I doubt the best team in
Utah this year has any 3's let alone 4 or 5's. Go figure!
@SooneruteNot to bag on them but that ranking is pretty misleading
at this point mainly because of the sheer number of utah recruits, not the
quality of utah recruits.
@SoonerUte"Utah is currently #29 on Rivals, ahead of Oregon at
#43, and the PAC 12 average of 40."---------Unfortunately, I don't think Utah's recruiting is all that great
right now. Resorting the rankings by average stars, and Utah is currently 9th in
the PAC-12. The rankings take into consideration the number of recruits as well
as stars, and since Utah has 26 commits, which is much higher than average,
their ranking appears artificially high. The other teams will catch up with the
number of rankings - perhaps they are holding out for better recruits; perhaps
their recruits have yet to commit, or perhaps they are more concerned with bowl
games. As soon as the other teams get their recruits in, Utah will drop down the
list far, unless the last few recruits Utah gets are off the chart, which I
highly doubt. In fact, according to Rivals, Utah has NO 4 or 5 star recruits as
of now. Ouch.I am a Utes fan, and it pains me to say it, but in
reality, it doesn't appear Utah is even going to be average in the PAC-12
in recruiting this year.
"As far as recruiting goes, have you checked on it?... its below average for
the PAC 12."Utah is currently #29 on Rivals, ahead of Oregon at #43,
and the PAC 12 average of 40.
As far as recruiting goes, have you checked on it? The recruits need to be
better than the star system, because as far as that goes its below average for
the PAC 12.
Their two best players are graduating. They have to step up in recruiting. Next
year could be ugly as well.
Pipes,Actually there are 3 pac 12 teams and one independent that are
worse than the utes. BYU still has to beat New Mexico State today
so I wouldn't talk smack just yet if I were a Y fan.
It is now official, there is 1 team in the Pac-12 that is actually worse than
There are certainly a lot of areas that this Utah team needs to improve on for
next year. They went through many major changes this year mainly three
different starting QB's.I hope that will pay off for next years
team with Wilson going into next year with seven starts under his belt. There is still plenty to be optimistic about Utah's football program. It
is looking like our recruiting class is shaping up to be pretty good - hopefully
they can build on that between now and signing day. Also, the football
facilities will be finished for next season which is not only cool but will be a
pretty good recruiting tool as well. It takes more than one good year of
recruiting to compete in this conference. Last year was probably the best class
we had just outside the top 25. The Utes need to keep that up and keep
improving their overall team speed and athleticism. If the Utes can do that
their future will be just fine.Oh and to the byu fans bagging on the
Utes, we've still been good enough to own your MWC program. LolGo Utes!
sammy,There's only one thing more pathetic than Utah's
football season.... like being in the same company as Northern Colorado,
Washington State, Cal and Colorado.
That wasn't a win. It was barely survival between two disinterested teams.
Get it together Utes !!!!!
Out of misery and disappointment come great things like...Chris
B's predictions. LOLHappy Holidays Utes. Enjoy the R&R and
the momentum of this win going into Spring camp.
Congrats on the win Utes. What a disappointing season this has been. I'm
really glad it is finally over. Here's to next season and HOPEFULLY
Whittingham gets things ironed out. BJ needs to be put back as QBs coach only,
and hire an experienced OC. Next season could very well be just as bad if not
worse if the coaching staff doesn't figure things out. We have a lot of
very good young talent, or potentially very good young talent rather, and I
really hope they step up next year. Go Utes!!
