It will be poetic justice when a spunky little Spartan team from the WAC with a
good passing game outplays & defeats an over-sized, unimaginative running
team from Independence & ESPN world. BYU used to be a spunky &
imaginative little passing team from the WAC, just like SJSU.
I think BYU will lose this game tonight. However, I think they will beat New
Mexico State next week. I also believe they will win games scheduled against Las
Vegas in 2014 and 2015.
Nelson should go back to special teams and play Lark the rest of the season.
Nelson has lowered the standard at BYU. its frustrating to watch the offence
play the first half.
Wow! I knew BYU couldn't pass the ball ... but I thought they would have a
little success running the ball. They're getting stuffed on 4th and 2, 3rd
and 2 ... The SJSU coaches really prepared their players on both sides of the
if lark was so good he would be starting. the fact that we are stuck with riley
after so many poor performances means lark and munns probably dont cut it. if
taysom hill doesn't get injured i think we win a few more of those close
games, and riley would have been relegated to the bench. if we were
in the wac we would be 3rd or 4th place. that is pathetic. this season needs to
end, riley needs to graduate, and we need some coaching changes.
Well, at least Utah lost to Arizona. Nice to have company, after what appears to
be another train wreck game for BYU.
Idaho scored more points (13) against SJSU than BYU.
Doman/Nelson see ya! Not good enough. Watching BYU's offense is like
getting a root canal. The sad part is BYU has a good young RB and
excellent WR's. Just can't block for the RB and get the ball to the
Game over! Five minutes left and lowly WAC school SJSU has it in the bag against
we stink tonight!
Is anyone else glad Riley graduates, the guy has lots of grit but man he is a
horrible QB, put in Lark!!
What an ugly game, offense looked terrible as usual, can we just play the bowl
game and get this season over with?
What a shame the offense is really bad as usual..To bad Bronco can only coach
defense. Glad Riley, and Doman is gone next yr.
Patience fans...only two more games and he'll be gone forever.
BYU could have won the game, should have won the game. The defense, after-shall
we say-a shaky start-more than held their own. However, as has happened time and
time again, boneheaded plays and turnovers led to the defeat. Unfortunately, all
three turnovers are at the feet of one player.
Almost a miracle! Oh well ... at least we were in the running to win the game.
That is always Bronco's goal ... to have a chance to win in the end.
Problem is ... he doesn't win many of those close games at the end.
BYU did win the 2nd half 7 to 0. That must mean something.
@werYep, byu should have won that game just like they should be 11-0
right now on there way to a national championship right?
BYU better start playing better than this if we want to stay relevant as an
independent, especially with the new bowl system starting in a couple of years.
I know I am in the minority, but I strongly believe BYU needs to eventually get
into a conference to stay relevant. What a frustrating season this has been.
Now that the game is over and BYU has officially lost again because the
quarterback can't seem to take care of the ball, and the OC calls a run
into the right side of the line that was stuffed every time they tried it, I
hope AD Holmoe is tired enough of these shananigans to insist on some coaching
changes. This year was bad because we had no field goal game to speak of, no
play calling except what was very predictible, and way too many turnovers. Plus
the O-line was missing in action. It's a miracle we actually had the
opportunity to win at the end, although our true selves came shining through and
we couldn't climb the mountain (despite the great on-side
kick)......AGAIN!This has beeen a frustrating few years. I hope the
bowl game is decent....but that's asking an awful lot. It's truly
hard to believe this team almost beat Notre Dame in South Bend.
Laudable that Bronco continues to be loyal to his QB Nelson, even when Riley is
inaccurate, turnover-prone and not playing well possession after posession.
From what I have seen this year, Lark is more accurate and deserved to have a
shot at it again tonight. Riley lucked out with the last touchdown and then did
not protect the ball with the final turnover.Sadly, a BYU comeback
that could have been memorable ended in another poor Riley turnover. Makes it
hard not to second-guess Bronco this year. I like Doman, but the offense
continues to be predictable. With a phenomenal schedule for next year, the
Cougars have a lot of changes to make!
BYU is now 6-10 all time against the San Jose State Spartans! LoL
I think they believed the hype that the offense was getting better against a
weak Idaho team.
As usual I wanted to watch the game but, the offense stinks so bad that it is
too painful to watch and I changed the channel as I have done so many times this
year. There are a lot of high school coaches and OCs that are much better than
Doman. BYU used to be the most exciting team to watch but, that was in the
Edwards era. Mendenhall promised us a return to those days but, with Doman
coaching QB's and then the entire offense that dream has abruptly and
painfully ended. Hope springs eternal that there will be some serious soul
searching and changes made at season's end.
Why keep Riley in when they can see he was having trouble running and getting
up? He is not a good QB, never was and never will be
It's hard to get on Riley's case because he did some heroic things to
keep us in the game. On the other hand, most of his passes are off the mark,
even though many of those are receptions due to great talent on the receiving
end.Lark may get his chance at NMSU next week, but don't expect
to see the brilliant play that many of the Cougar faithful are hoping for. I
hope I'm wrong. BYU's problems this year are not just at the QB
position. They are really self destructive. Lots of costly errors in critical
situations.By the way, I am I the only one who noticed that most of
the snaps were at the QB's feet? Almost every snap was slow and low,
costing precious time to get the ball thrown. What is up with that?
in what methodology of counting is 13 more than 14? Must have opened mouth and
inserted foot before the 14th point was scored... Oh well... Some people show
their best intelligence by simply staying silent. Also to be noted is that Idaho
had home field that day. I pretty sure things would have been a world different
if SJSU had rolled into Provo. But this was an okay weekend. #1 and #2 both got
knocked off and Utah dropped a gimme game at home to a team they could and
should have beaten. 4-8 is a real possibility as is 6-7. Won't it be
severely funny if NMSU comes in and pulls the upset? LOL... And.... Utah State
is ranked for the first time since...? A great weekend in spite of the loss! :)
The mission of BYU football is not to stay relevant. It's mission is to
stay competitive while adhering to the principles as laid forth by the
university. Lavell built it and fans will continue to come well into the next
century regardless of what happens on the field. It is time to fold up that
bandwagon of getting into a conference and focusing on what is truly important
in your lives. This game has captured too many hearts and has far too much focus
that is just crassly wasted.
