"We understand there's a lot of history and heritage," he said, "but we also understand the word 'Dixie' has an entirely different connotation outside of Utah."
This is a true statement, but I have always lived in the real Dixie. The real Dixie IS my history and heratige, and the connotation for me is "Home Sweet Home." Y'all come and see us and partake of our good ole Southern hostility, ya hear?
It doesn't really matter what they change the name too, it is still just a party school. No one grows up thinking "I really want to go to Dixie State College because of the high academic standards they have." I have told my four children that I will help pay for college at any of Utah's fine colleges and universities EXCEPT Dixie.
Desert Rock University.
There it is!!!
