Wait. It's illegal to delete your own text messages from your own phone?
I don't think those charges will stick. He had to have known in advance that the police were investigating him and his connection to the woman. And, even then his connection to the woman would have to have been Central to the investigation so as to hinder any progress at uncovering who killed this woman.
I don't know if this charge is appropriate. Unethical to hide relationships from the light of day, maybe. But, criminal?
