Tournaments are always fun and exciting. Adding a worthy cause makes it even more special. Glad Coach Rose and his squad gets to participate in it. It'll be an experience of a lifetime for many of the kids involved. Here's wishing you the best!
Go Cougars!
"Holmoe said he isn't very involved with the basketball schedule,". Perhaps that explains some things aboutthe football schedule.
In my opinion, these are the biggest games BYU BB has had for a long time this early in the season. As I've looked at FSU and ND, both look comparable to BYU . . . meaning we could win both or we could lose both.
I think I have a good idea how we will do against the remainder of the schedule.
These games will have a big impact on March. If we win both games, I think there's a very good possibility we'll dance as a 6 - 8 seed. If we lose both games, it could be another play-in.
Big games on a big stage. I can't wait to get home from work to watch tonight. I'm glad we're not playing Sac St. This is what college BB is all about. Go Cougs!
Speaking of Sac State -
utah could get embarrassed tonight.
Suggestions for the team.
Zylstra/Carlino-a 3 pointer is an assisted set shot. Don't attempt it after having the ball for more than 1 second. Second, don't overpenetrate: stop and pop. Both of these players could make a lot of points this way. 3rd-don't attempt 3 pointers until you have got some mid range jumpers to go down. If you miss a 3, go back to mid range jumpers until you have rythm again to shoot another 3. You are both rythm shooters.
(most players are)
Brandon, turn and face basket at the mid to upper posts. You can hit the weakside cutter or anyone cutting to the basket. Also you can run a give and go with the weakside wing. This pass will put the defenses in a bad position if done quickly. You can get the ball back at the basket for a layup or dunk. Back to the basket, too far out is senseless.
Haws- you have been taught well. No comment.
Josh-get passes from Brandon cutting to basket and perfect stop and pop or dunk it if the lane is open. You have potential for a lot of points this way.
