"BYU beat who this year? The worst Pac 12 team, the worst Big Sky team, 2 of the 3 worst Wac teams, a bottom ACC team, and Utah State. Now there playing Idaho, San Jose State, and New Mexico State 3 teams that 115 of the 120 FBS teams could beat. So Byu went ind so they can play cupcake after cupcake Half there Opponents r bad Wac teams that MW teams beat by 20+ every year."

When going to the PAC, I knew ute fans would start whining. We play hard teams, and you play cupcakes. This is funny.

    Scott Farcus,

Your comment has no substance. Why was Indy a huge mistake, and why should Holmoe be fired?

    Explain yourself.

Yeah, that's what I said. Sold out.

So I became disgusted with my Alma mater and sold my season tickets.

And the Indy years have been a bust so far. All we have is weak schedules, few regular opponents, no conference honors, and promissory notes for the future.

But I still don't see how bashing the Utes makes BYU look better.

    Y Ask Y

BYU went "indy" to escape the MTN and the incompetence of Craig Thompson.

If you want to blame someone for the decline of the MWC and the collapse of the WAC, blame Thompson.

Thanks to BYU's independence making possible BYU's ESPN contract, and the subsequent retention of BYU ownership rights for BYUtv to broadcast and/or rebroadcast all home games and many road games, BYU fans nationwide, in fact, worldwide, are able to watch BYU sports.

PlanetBYU lays out an interesting case for how much more financially beneficial it could be for BYU to be Independent, rather than a member of the MWC or Big East, when it comes to divvying up revenue from the soon to begin playoffs.

Why do Cougar Fans spend so much time trying to denigrate the Utes? If you truly are as confident in your team as you try to convince yourselves you are, beating up the Utes doesn't make sense.

I had Cougar season tickets for over a decade before they went Indy. Prior to that, I was excited about the prospects of the MWC - it was an up and coming conference, and was earning respect.

Then, for the money and the "exposure", somebody decided to go Indy. To me, that is literally "selling out".

Oh, and as for the over-the-top hype, give it a rest. If at some point during the Idaho game you counted every person in the stadium, including teams, cheer squads, bands, security, hot-dog vendors, and a few rodents, you might inflate the estimate to 61,000. But people who actually have access to the numbers reported: "At halftime, BYU leads woeful Idaho 42-7 in front of about 35,000 shivering fans..."

Hyperbole does nothing to earn credibility, but outright misinformation is unbecoming a Cougar.

Coug fans!! What a great thing to be a Cougar....just listen to the misery of the so-called ute fans! What are they now 3-7? 4-6? Who cares. They are not relevant in the State or in the Pac10+2. They are not relevant nationally. They played two nationally relevant teams and stunk up the field. BYU played 4 as an independent, lost 3 by combined 7 points and was tied going into the 4th quarter in the fourth.

Here is what I find pleasure in re-reporting: Utes played in the snow 3 years ago and drew 17000 fans!! During the day! BYU Mighty Cougars drew 61,000 at 8:15 at night! And no, the stadium was not a third empty at LES. Ute imagination at work.
    .

So Cougar fans; Let the ute kids rant...they have nothing else to talk about.

I'll take the win and yes it was fun to watch the team play well but It is amazing how good Riley looked against lousy competition. Riley will continue to Shine the next two games...Until the bowl game. Mark My Words.

Idaho has barely won a Single game this year. Yee-Haw!

"Unlike your lowly Utes, who stand at the brink of bowl elimination and will have to win out just to finish above .500."

MY lowly Utes? I am not a Ute fan. Why the paranoia? Does it help make you feel better about the Cougars to denigrate the Utes?

    Strange.

  • J-TX Allen, TX

Yes, it has taken a while for the independent schedule to shape up. But next year looks really good:

    08/31/13at Virginia Cavaliers
    09/07/13Texas Longhorns
    09/14/13TBA
    09/21/13Boise State Broncos
    09/28/13Utah Utes
    10/04/13at Utah State Aggies
    10/12/13Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
    10/19/13at Houston Cougars
    10/26/13TBA
    11/02/13TBA
    11/09/13at Wisconsin Badgers
    11/16/13TBA
    11/23/13at Notre Dame Fighting Irish
    11/30/13TBA
    12/07/13at Hawaii Warriors

Now if BYU can just jettison those bad teams, Utah and Hawaii, off the schedule it will all be top tier....

BTW, Riley looked really good. But we all know Idaho's defense is non-existent. My Grandma could have done well....

    Y-Ask-Y?

Actually, if the Cougars win out to finish 9-4, they have an outside shot of finishing in the Top 25 again.

Unlike your lowly Utes, who stand at the brink of bowl elimination and will have to win out just to finish above .500.

    No Conference Will Take Us

You're right, BYU will not win big games as long as we play subpar Quarterbacks. Now that the scheduling is more attractive, either Bronco will get his Bronco on or get his Bronco out. With a handful of exceptional Quarterbacks coming up the pipe, I like where BYU is heading. Hopefully the coaching will be there to supplement the talent. I don't see BYU having a year next year like Utah is having. I see BYU doing fairly well. National championship? No way, but not a a horrible year either.

What a sad sad game. So sorry to see BYUs November schedule. This season was a flop after Utah and Boise State. Nelson is a dud and running up stats against the likes of Idaho won't change that!

  • TheSportsAuthority Arlington, VA

Utah hasn't beaten a decent team, besides BYU, all season. And, no, U don't play better teams week in and week out, in fact, Utah hasn't played a team even close to the level of the #3-ranked team BYU barely lost to in South Bend this year.

Get over your misguided arrogance; the Utes haven't beaten a decent PAC 12 team since joining the conference. Losing to better teams week in and week out doesn't prove anything, but losing to teams like Colorado does prove that the Utes aren't even good enough to beat the teams they're supposed to beat.

Utah beat byu and plays much better teams week in and week out. It is so hard for you to realize that, byu isn't even close. You get on here a dare have omments about the two different schools it just shows how out of touch with college football you are.

I don't even know why I'm commenting. BYU did happen to lose to all the good teams that they played this year. So what. Then BYU beats all the teams that they should have beaten this year and some of you still roast them. What's the point? Some will roast BYU no matter what they do.

  • Scots Ogden, UT

    No Conference Championships for U

We've been in the PAC 12 for two years now, and we still haven't beaten a single conference team with a winning record.

Look at our schedule this season and last. Look at the teams we lost to. And look at next season's schedule and beyond. How many games do you honestly think Utah can win if we can't even beat teams like Colorado and Utah State?

It does not matter who we schedule. If we can't beat ranked teams and better competition, why did we leave the MWC in the first place if all we're ever going to be is a conference bottom dweller?

I'm so tired of hearing how weak the schedule is. Get over it. Yes, it was a weak schedule. When you have lower tier PAC-12 teams (Utah, & Washington St.) and lower WAC teams on the schedule, bowl games are going to come. But Holme said the first two years would be boaring games. I want to hear someone complain about how weak 2013 is going to be. Someone on here tell me that 2013 (and going forward) will not be a BCS type schedule. Otherwise, zip the soggy lips and get over it.

After losing to BYU, Georgia Tech has won back-to-back road games at Maryland and at North Carolina, and the Yellow Jackets are now 2nd, behind only Miami, in the ACC Coastal Division. With Duke up next, at home, Georgia Tech will very likely be 6-5 when they play their season finale at Georgia.

Not a great team, but certainly MUCH better than the "bottom ACC team" you claimed them to be.

Also, it's interesting that you didn't mention the fact that Utah State is 8-2 and tied for tied for first in the WAC, nor, that the Aggies BEAT the Utes.

It's laughable that you completely ignored BYU's near win at #3-ranked Notre Dame.

Minimizing BYU's record does nothing to elevate the record of that train wreck on the hill, it just makes your critique of BYU look petty and disengenuous.

Dear Dektol, This article was written by a Newspaper not BYU. I never heard one thing from BYU or its players how bitter cold it was. Do not read into things that which is not there.

There is not one single BYU fan who has commented before my comment. They are all Trolls from that school up north. They are all bitter because the Utes are having such a terrible season and want to take out their bitterness on someone else. They sure seem to ignore, and deny the fact, that it takes a few years to build a strong schedule.

When you look down the road BYU has a better schedule than the Utes will have in the PAC 10+2 wannabees who are at the bottom of the pile.

You have got to quit eating sour grapes and lemon. Your life will be much sweeter.

A good game for the Cougs. I was a little disappointed in the back-ups... I expected Lark, Lasike, and others to shine once they finally got their chance but it was very apparent that there is a sharp drop-off in talent from 1st to 2nd string. I guess we can be grateful that most of the starters are healthy as we prepare for a ?th consecutive bowl game. Go Cougs!
