That was too kind of the officer. Give him the full ticket. That should make him re-think of ever becoming aggressive or speeding again. More drivers should be pulled over and cited, whenever and however possible.

In SLC the police under the order of the Mayor, have time to ticket idling cars. But they're not allowed to stop aggressive panhandling, people doing drugs in their apartment or condo (even when the smell and fumes are bothering neighbors), ticket bicyclists, when checking on a crime (check to see if a person is here legally or not).

I can imagine someone getting out of his car, angry, wanting to fight, and NOT encountering a deputy sheriff with greater patience than I. Instead, he is greeted by someone with a concealed gun permit, who also has greater patience than I.

That is one of the funniest stories I have read in a long time. The LT. was kind in not giving him a citation for the rest of his actions.

To Liberal Ted, I think if you read State law 41-6a-208(3)(c) you will find that the limits on citing someone for idling are quite restrictive and with the penalty being limited to that of a parking ticket, I doubt City cops spend any time writing tickets.

It is called the passing lane, not the fast lane. I hate it when people drive in that lane when they are not passing. Anyone who is in the passing lane for more than 1 mile should get a ticket as well.

And I have noticed that police officers are some of the worst drivers out there. Maybe not in this case, but there are many who think they are exempt from the rules of the road.
