Very cute story with a great message! I loved the Bio (complete with original spelling!)and particularly "a few have been almost published." I think your spelling if Missouri says it all. Now that you are a perfecinal, I can tell that you are truly enjoying yourself. My daughter, who is now a professional copywriter, started out much the same way. We cherish those first "novels" that she wrote while still in elementary school.
I can imagine what you must have been like as a kid! Oh, it makes me remember how it was and looking back,I see how good it was for me! You would have loved knowing my dad . We had a hansel and gretel Playhouse made and painted by him. Our bedroom walls were covered with all sorts of paintings and cartoons. Dad made giant(bigger than life) statues of cowboys and indians. A giant bear and the tin man. My heart swells up everytime I walk throuh the backyard. Some of it is still there. My dad did tuck us in and tell us stories. I am 46 years old and it seems like yesterday. I wonder if your dad, by chance, influenced you . What gave you that much imagination? I will have to read your books. I like the story. Maybe you should write a book about how you got all that imagination. I agree that all kids should have the chance to dream. I feel great gratitude towards my dad, who knew how to make us dream.
I love this article! I was in my 50s when I first became published! I saved my written (rotten) works from elementary school, also illustrated by my own hand. How a child interprets high heels is amazing! Keep up the freshness, Jason!
Jason Wright, you are a treasure!! I love your writing. Wish I could read your new manuscript (you gave a copy to my friend Judy McClannahan), but she is wise enough to know not to loan it to me. I don't know what happened to the last book she loaned me.
But I'm anxiously awaiting the publication.
