I still say any win is a good win but let's not get carried away here. As utah "fans" like to constantly tell BYU fans, beating bad teams really doesn't prove anything. washington state and cal are bad teams. All this proves is that just like BYU all utah can do is beat the weak part of their schedule with a very occasional win, in utah's case against BYU and in BYU's case against usu, against a decent team. utah is "putting anything together" they are simply playing bad teams. If that was the reason for BYU's finish last year then that is also the reason for what utah has done the last couple of weeks. Is there an honest utah "fan" out there that will admit it?

WSU is a bad team and that is part of the reason Utah looked so good.

The point is that Utah is doing what they are supposed to do against bad teams, especially the offense. Case and point, the Utes played much better against Washington St and Cal. then they did against UNCO, or any other team for that matter. That indicates the offense starting to come together. Washington and Arizona will be a better barometer to see if Utah is really taking steps forward or not. Even though those teams have shown to be bi-polar themselves...

Duckhunter,

I will admit that the reason for Utah's last two victories was partially due to the level of competition.

However, I take issue with your excessive use of quotations around the word fan. While I know you're one of those special BYU fans that make me despise BYU's entire fanbase, it's still obnoxious.

Also, your insistence in properly spelling BYU, yet neglecting to capitalize Utah is quite annoying.

I'm not sure what Utah fans you converse with, but the vast majority of us are willing to admit that this year has been less than stellar. I do find it a little humorous that you and several others comment more on Utah articles than BYU articles, and that you go far and above when it comes to kicking people when they're down.

Stay classy.

Since when has beating the Y been "a very occasional win" for Utah??? The 1980s? We're a generation passed that now. NOW it's our little brother who gets "a very occasional win" vs. the Utes. Need I remind you of 13 of the last 20, 8 of the last 11, and 3 in a row?

Good luck in your futile quest of drumming up any interest in what's left of your season.

Nice attempt at distorting what I wrote, are are you really incapable of understanding it?

I never said an "occasional win over BYU" I said an occasional win over a good team and in utah's case that happens to be BYU. That said good luck in your futile attempt to drum up any interest for utah's remaining season either. I notice that the stadium was half empty by the middle of the 3rd quater Saturday, and that was a win on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. If people won't even stick around for that I can't imagine they are going to hang around for the loss to UA.

LOL!

@johanbjorn

The fact you take exception to the quotes and the lower case spelling is the reason I do it. Thanks for comfirming it for me.

I'm not sure what game you are referring to. The stadium at Rice-Eccles was full until the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. I know, I was there. But what does that even matter? We support our team either way. It's not like going to Edwards stadium where, when the home team is getting beaten badly (i.e. Utah 54, "your" team 10), the home crowd is gone 2 minutes into the 2nd half. I know, I was there, too. "Your" team could have used the support, but the "fans" were nowhere to be found. Did you attend that game? Or were you part of the mass exodus at the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

Overwhelming proof that one game does not a season make:

August 25, 2012 - BYU is upset at Utah 0-1 in women's soccer

November 5, 2012
- BYU finishes the regular season 18-1-1 with a #1 seed in the 64-team NCAA tournament
- Utah finishes the season 8-8-3 with no NCAA tournament invite

Your hyperbole concerning last year's BYU-Utah game is amusing. You honestly expect anybody to believe that BYU fans abandoned LES en masse when BYU was only trailing 14-10 early in the 2nd half?

If you want to compare fans deserting their team early, replay the 2010 Utah-TCU game and you'll see Utah fans heading to the exits in the FIRST QUARTER! One minute into the 2nd half the Utes were leaving en masse and by midway through the 3rd quarter RES was a virtual ghost town.

You're splitting hairs here. When Utah went up 31-10 with 8:30 left in the 3rd quarter, there was a mass exodus from Edward Stadium's east side where all of the students sit. A few minutes later, when it was 38-10, you would have thought there was a fire drill going on, the byu fans couldn't get out fast enough.

As far as the other game you refer to, do you really have to rely on Utah's other opponents to fight your battles? That's when you know that you are owned by your rivals.

The simple truth is 6 of the last 8 BYU-Utah games have been decided by a touchdown or less in the closing minutes or in overtime. Regardless of the final outcome, that's definitive proof that neither team has "dominated" the other head-to-head during the Bronco/Kyle era.

Unfortunately for U, your perceived "dominance" hasn't translated into real dominance using the only measuring stick that really matters, national polls:

Excited to see us put more together against Washington :) I'm not a huge fan of how they act (I wouldn't like to be in a rivalry with them, but it would at least never get boring) but I will love to see the looks on their faces when we beat them this year.
