Fun to see the Cougars play. Hope the score is a preview of things to come.
I think we'll see a lot of games with Davies and Haws at 20 plus points each. I'm betting Davies has more games where he gets a double double than games where he doesn't. Carlino's play was disappointing tonight.
I'm still trying to figure out where Agustin and Delgado will fit into the rotation. And I'm very impressed with Calvert. He has a bright future. Is he going on a mission or playing straight through?
@ CougFaninTX
Word has it that Calvert is leaning toward a mission next year, as is Emery. I agree that Carlino hasn't looked good--poor shot selection, not enough assists, too much penetration when the bigs are more capable of finishing, etc. He is playing good defense, however, and he has so much talent. It's early, he'll be okay.
CougFaninTX,
Calvert is leaving after the season.
I attended the game, and loved what I saw. I, personally, think that Carlino--while possessing a lot of nice skills--is too reckless for my liking. He forces things too often. I'd rather see either Cusick or Calvert start at point (Calvert REALLY impressed me with his passing and court vision), with Carlino coming off the bench to spark things and push the ball. I think they're going to compete very well in the WCC this year. Haws is the best player on the court (including Davies), IMHO. Davies needs to go a lot harder to the hole with his physical skills.
Go Cougars!
