When a team completely gives up like that, it's probably hard to not score
more points. Keep your heads up washington st. You guys have some great years
I'll tell you who is truly classless. Fans on both sides who have to trash
the other team because "their" team's season hasn't turned out
Why can,t Utah stand on its own merits, no matter what happens, good or bad they
still have to look south to support it
The utes were very classy, they didn't try an onside kick when they were
Personally, I find it ridiculous that fans of some schools go back to years
before any of the current players were born to try to prove their team is
better. That actually says a lot about how their current team is not superior.
It is so funny how the southies are so desperate for something to do that they
have to pile on over a two-point conversion. This is hilarious. I know you
guys are bored - what with your November "bye" and your mighty finishing
schedule. If I had that little to lool forward to, I would be trolling other
blogs too.Go Utes!! Great to be a Ute!! Great to be relevant!!
AlottaBalatasNot calling off the dogs soon enough to please the
whiners is a little different than running trick plays with the game already in
hand.LaVell simply had such prolific offenses that it was difficult
to keep them from not scoring if BYU did anything except take a knee.Kyle seems to run his tricks with games already in hand simply to embarrass
his opponents.btw, you left a few out:BYU 27 Utah 0BYU 56 Utah 6BYU 56 Utah 28Payback for Utah upsetting BYU by
a single point in 1978.
@ sammyg"U lost to USU, BYU beat USU, and if we want to use
Gored's logic in the inverse BYU has not lost as bad to teams that Utah has
lost to recently... ND, BSU and so forth."I guess in your world
head-to-head match ups don't really matter. You would rather compare
common opponents that Utah played in 2010 vs. when BYU played them in 2012....
makes alot of sense. If you insist on comparing who played better
against common opponents THIS YEAR, you can give the advantage to BYU vs. Utah
State, but then give the advantage to the UTES vs. Washington St. and Oregon St.
But we both know the one that really matters in head-to-head,
Advantage UTES 24-21
sammy,You are confused over when to talk smack. You're like
the football player that beats his chest after a sack yet his team is down
something like 54-10. 24-21, 3 in a row, 8 of 11. When those
numbers don't fall in your favor, it's time to give it a rest.
@ ET (Come Home) Bass, Hooked on Phoenix and Sammy (aka Kenny) GShould we talk about class? Our beloved LaVell (and I mean that sincerely)
was the worst at running-up the score. These ring a bell . . . 1979
BYU 59 - New Mexico 7BYU 63 – SDSU 141980BYU 83 – UTEP
6 1981BYU 65 – UTEP 81988BYU 65 – New Mexico 01989BYU 70 – Utah 31 (no complaining here– payback game for
’88)C’mon, even the most ardent Utah hater would have to
admit there was no mercy when it came to BYU’s opponents. After
’89 I guess LaVell got classier since the scores dropped some . . . and
Crowton was really classy . . . Bronco too! BYU has class oozing the past
Poor little blue martyr cougar fans, taking upon themselves all of the
injustices done unto every other team by the big bully Utes. I haven't
heard one WSU fan say a thing about the Daffy Duck formation play, only
disappointment by the play of their team. Even the coach, the one that it
actually affected, has never mentioned it. Here's the real moral of college
football: if you don't want someone to gain a free point on you, DON'T
GIVE IT TO THEM! If Leach was that worried about it, he would have called a
timeout to help his team collect their wits about what they were doing, and we
would have just kicked the extra point at that point.
What 'bad' teams did Utah lose to? Oregon state, whom also beat BYU?
USC? Do tell. Every game we have lost (with the exception of ASU, we did not
come to play) was to teams that deserved it and played well. How dare you take
that credit away from them, but that does make you a BYU fan.....
@sportsfanforlikeNo doubt; amen Bro! Nice win but now time to look
at beating Washington. Should be a good game in Seattle.
U 90Lest we get confused over the issues...U lost to
USU, BYU beat USU, and if we want to use Gored's logic in the inverse BYU
has not lost as bad to teams that Utah has lost to recently... ND, BSU and so
forth.Hope that helps. And to address the topic of this
article... I totally agree with ET Bass and phoenix on this one.Utes
were 'classless' again on the two point play.
@GoRed"If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be dishing out
insults like you do on the rival that so obviously has the upper hand on you.
Otherwise, people can't take any of your comments seriously."When do they ever??
@sammyPlease read U 90's post carefully. He nailed it right on
the head. I'll try to make it even plainer: BYU beat WSU 30-6; Utah beat
them 49-6, 19 points more. Head-to-head Utah beat BYU again for the 3rd time in
a row. That makes 4 out of 5; 8 out of 11; and overall 56-34-4. If I were in
your shoes, I wouldn't be dishing out insults like you do on the rival that
so obviously has the upper hand on you. Otherwise, people can't take any
of your comments seriously.
sammyg,Yet again you look so foolish. Yes, I'll take the 6th
place ribbon, because that's all Utah deserves so far this year. But by
using your measuring stick, that would mean BYU should get the 10th or 8th place
ribbon in the PAC 12. Is this really how you want to reflect on BYU? With
every post that you bash Utah the more it drives home the point that BYU is even
Utah does want trophies, and not one for 6th place. Also there is no reason to
petition to PAC-12 because Utah can, and will, compete in the PAC-12, even if it
does mean suffering through a few frustrating seasons. To be the best you have
to play, and beat, the best and I an excited to cheer for my team while they
take on this new challenge. I guess that's the difference between you and
me though.Have fun at the Idaho game btw.
It was 13 seconds into the 3rd quarter. I guess Utah should have went into the
victory formation for the whole second half, in fear they may have hurt someones
feelings. It's Washington States job or whoever it is to stop them and keep
playing. Coach Leach was right they quit! Typical attitude of what
is wrong with sports today, you guys are probably same people who think your kid
deserves an orange slice and a snickers bar after every game. Regardless of the
Flinching"This is PAC-12 football, not little league where
everyone gets a trophy." But you want a trophy, you want
recognition, your team is desperate for the attention...For all the
whining we heard about a 3-way tie for sixth place (actually 8th as for
'real' football stats) the Utes better petition the PAC12 for
participation trophies. Something for the trophy case would be nice.Better yet how about a 6th place ribbon to staple to all of those PAC12
banners everywhere in SLC. LOL
It's not classless at all. It was at the very start of the third quarter
and if you aren't mentally tough enough to stay in the game past halftime
you can expect to get blasted off the field. This is PAC-12 football, not
little league where everyone gets a trophy.Further, Coach
Whittingham gave Washington another thing to prepare for this week in practice,
which will take time away when they could be preparing for something else.
It's all strategy and it was a brilliant move by Utah.
"It might have seemed strange to some when the Utes made a two-point
conversion against Washington State while leading 37-0."No,
Dirk, it wasn't "strange," it was just another example of the
classlessness constantly being exhibited on the hill.Just because
you practice it "every week", doesn't make it any more right than
kicking an on-side kick when you're up by 40, "just for the
Two point play up 37-0. Totally classless utes.
