    you rest your case on the fact that you think utah couldn't come within 3 points of beating ND... it's gotta be frustrating to realize that what you brag about aren't even victories. rather you have to resort to: "well, well, we only lost by 3"

    Of course i'm not saying utah is at the top of the PAC, but you sorry cougy's have to come on Ute articles to try and justify your poor year. simple fact is utah is better. 3 peat, 8 of 11

    "Utah already has a Big 10 opponent lined up. Would not be surprised to see Ohio St on the schedule in the future. After all, they do belong to a real conference."

    Meanwhile, BYU already has Nebraska and Wisconsin lined up, and I would not be surprised to see many more Big Ten oppponents scheduled in the future. After all, unlike the conference dependent Utes, BYU has been scheduling big name teams like Texas, Miami, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Florida State for DECADES.

    Losses to Washington and Arizona could leave U with nothing Colorado to remember in November. Yawn.

    Funny how you and some other BYU fans are not talking about BYU losses this season. Its ok. talking about losing to ranked teams gets old after awhile.
    Fact of the matter is that BYU is a dependent. That's right, its dependent on every conference in the country to hopefully schedule them. Other schools are not dependent on BYU. The cougars are just cupcake warm up games for them. And its been brought up before, and just happened last week. Teams can back out of agreements with BYU at any time.

    Strength of schedule?? The southies are questioning strength of schedule?? Sagarin has Utah's SOS at 9 as of today, byU is at 35. But - two of byU's final three games are against the second and third worst teams (according to Sagarin) in the FBS, only outdone in ineptitude my Massachusetts. Great November of independence!!

    Idaho 180
    SJSt 41
    NMSt 175

    Utah's remaining schedule

    UW 46
    AZ 28
    Col 156

    Stronger schedule to date for Utah, hands down. Stronger finishing schedule, not even in the same neighborhood.

    You southies are going to have to come up with some better material.

    Certainly Utah has not had the season they had hoped for. This win was nice and I will take any win by even one point over a close loss. Utah has been in every game except the ASU game. It is still great playing in an awesome conference even if there are no weeks or games off. Each game day is exciting and all the games have meaning.

    To all BYU fans that are in denial about which team has the talent and is better you need to get a grip on reality. Utah consistently puts multiple players in the NFL. The recruiting of better talent is the main reason Utah keeps beating BYU. With that said Van Noy and Hoffman are studs. Ansah also looks like an NFLer. Beyond that there is not much there and it will continue that way.

    Actually, it doesn't take any guts to call Utah the 2nd best team, because, according to Sagarin, the Utes are only the 3rd best team:

    Takes a lot of guts to call Utah the 2nd best team, how sad it is that you truly beleive that. What are you twelve do you have any idea how it works, next byu/Utah game look up at the scoreboard that's the way true athlete's and teams label each other. BYU CANNOT BEAT UTAH I say it every time, all us Ute fans ever get is WELL if that snap wouldn't have gone over his head, if Heaps wouldn't have fumbled in the end zone, or what if Utah wouldn't have blocked that kick. Best comment ever from Mike Leaches press conference after the game: "At one point, they only sent two guys with five of ours blocking. Two to our Five. They still got to our quarterback. That means if two of their guys met five of ours in an alley, our five would get beat up by their two." Ha ha ha love that guy! I like their team. I must be missing something because I didn't see anything in this article about U vs. Y but about half the comments, as usual, go that direction. I think the two teams already played and that argument is over. Utah looked very solid Saturday and dominated this game throughout. Next week will be a much tougher game against a team that does very well in Seattle. A win over UW would be huge for the Utes. The best part for me this week was not playing a team like UNLV or New Mexico. Sure these Cougars aren't a strong team but it is still a PAC 12 team with some good players and a big name coach.

  • Qwest Perfected Salt Lake City, UT

    @worf

    "Accidental snap over the quarterbacks head, and the Utes claim superiority?"

    Actually it is because of the final score 24 to 21 that defines our superiority over byu in 2012. Last year of course it was a bigger spread 54 to 10 that defined the Utes superiority.

    We can keep going if you need us to slow everything down for you. Too funny.

    As for the Utes, they are winning the games that they should and hopefully that will continue so that they make a bowl game. The only reason to look back at previous games would be to learn from mistakes that were made and make adjustments for the future. It makes no sense for fans to argue the "if's and but's" of past games. Every game has big plays that effect the outcome. They happen on both sides of the ball. In this years rivalry game, the Utes made plenty of mistakes that gave the cougs easy scores they just didn't make as many and found ways to win. So get over the "accidental" snap.

    Go Utes!

    "An accidental snap over the quarterbacks head, and the utes claim superiority?"

    No, we're claiming superiority because we won 3 in a row, 8 of the last 11, and lead the series 56-34-4.

    That bad snap excuse is getting old! BYU had plenty of opportunities after the bad snap to win the game and they failed! Heck, the Cougs were given three chances to win at the end of the game and failed. No more excuses worf! Utah won because they made the plays necessary to win and BYU did not!

    It's that simple!

    _____

    I get what you and worf are trying to say ... and I'm not trying to say Utah is the greatest ever simply because they had the #3 ranked SOS going into yesterday. I'm simply bringing some reality to the conversation ... reality in that yeah, Utah may not be the greatest team in the country but our schedule has been extremely difficult up until now. If the Utes can win out or even finish 6-6 having done so with a tough schedule and a 3rd string quarterback, I'd be more than satisfied. And that would be more of a feat than any cougar fan on these threads wants to believe. Let's be honest, that's the benefit of playing in a tough conference, there's true satisfaction in qualifying for a bowl game ... any bowl game.

Both teams are probably somewhere in the range of the 50th-60th best teams in the country...nothing to get excited about. I hope they can keep up the momentum and get a conference win on the road next week.

    Keep kicking it to Reggie! Truly an amazing feat.

    Go Utes!

    I love how when BYU beats WSU it's cougars beat a PAC 12 team...when UTAH beats WSU they are lowly WSU!!! Objective reporting???

    So happy for the win and how they did it! Putting in Jon Hays in the third quarter. An honor earned for his efforts this year and last. (Also protecting Travis from possible injury.) Then Adam Schultz, a walk-on fourth team quarterback in the fourth quarter. After completing his first pass he rushed over to the sidelines and was congratulated by Jordan Wynn. Later saw Travis Wilson congratulating him. And Lucky Radley scoring a TD. (He has been an unbelievable recruiter for the Utes!) Yes, it was total domination but I also loved how it was done!

    niners,

    Yes! BYU played better against Utah State.

    The best teams in Utah are:

    1. BYU
    2. Utah State
    3. Weber
    4. Dixie
    5. Southern Utah
    6. Bingham
    7. Utah Utes

    Now for basketball---
    The chorus is laughing.

    I don't hear anyone laughing? Is it choir night at your house? Just a PAC 12 vicory by Utah. Nothing more, Nothing less.

    According to byu fan logic, Utah beat wsu by 19 points more than byu did. So let's ignore the 3 point win over byu and just say we are 19 points better this year. Much improved from 44 points right cougars?

    #3 ranked strength of schedule?

    What a compliment to Northern Colorado, and Washington State.

    #3 difficult schedule... yawn

    Ute pride swelling at 2-4

    Three way tie for 10th place... that's funny!

    I am hoping that the Utes have righted the ship and the growing pains are over. Seems like Travis Wilson is the future of the program. Washington has beaten all of the teams that they should. The Utes can't overlook them with Arizona on the horizon. This is why being in the PAC-12 is so exciting. The Utes actually have to play their way into a bowl spot instead of coasting past inferior opponents at the end of the schedule. Looking forward to the last three weeks of the season. GO UTES!!!

    Going into today's game Utah had the #3 ranked strength of schedule. So pay no mind to comments from uninformed critics like Worf.

    Yes, unlike another team who truly earns their bowl invitation with quality wins over

    Weber State
    Georgia Tech
    Idaho
    San Jose State
    New Mexico State

    I think if one compares strength of schedules between the two teams in question, the matter of quality opponents is settled rather quickly.

    I was very pleased with their effort tonight. Yes, Washington State may be the worst team in the pac12 but they are still a team with talented, athletic players, and we beat them easily. I liked seeing more passes over the middle, the play calling is getting better every game, and so is the play execution. It's amazing to see what this defense is capable of when they aren't dog tired from being on the field all day long! Though still a stretch, 7-5 is looking more plausible with each game they play. I was most glad to see the first stringers off the field before the close of the 3rd quarter.

    Wins over:

    * Northern Colorado
    * Cal
    * Washington State
    * Colorado
    * Maybe Washington

    A bowl is in sight.

    Nice win for Utah. The bowl hopes are still alive. Well other than their bowl win they already got against BYU. My favorite part was going for two when up by 30+.
