A tragic accident. But it appears safety measures were not followed. Such as all guns are always loaded. Never point a gun accidentaly, intentionaly or playfully, at somethimng you are not willing to destroy
A totally avoidable, but nonetheless a terribly tragic, accident.
Just owning a gun is not enough, a responsible gun owner will also learn, and always practice basic gun handling safety procedures. Most guns sold today have these spelled out int he safety information that comes with the gun, and it is available (free) from the National Rifle Association and other gun groups.
Please, people, learn and obey gun safety rules before you ever go shooting, so we never again see a story like this.
My condolences to the family of the victim.
But while we are here, I noticed "Hooper's death appears to be because of the rifle firing unexpectedly."
And they say guns don't kill people... apparently, all guns except this unpredictable gun that animated itself and fired itself unexpectedly.
Who knew?
