Thanks for the reminder! While Jake COULD have been great, bottom line is, for us, he wasn't. Makes me realize that recruiting talent only doesn't necessarily get the job done.

You are right. Talent alone doesn't get the job done. You also need good coaching.

"Asked to assess his defense this season, Mendenhall said, "I haven't coached one like this yet. I'm very proud of them. Of all the things I do as a head coach, I look forward to going into that room every day as kind of a sanctuary to be with guys I consider friends, united in what we're trying to accomplish. There's a high level of trust in there. It's a fun place for me to be."

It is obvious that in his heart, and also in terms of his abilities, Bronco is a quality defensive coordinator, but he is unable to consistently execute at a high level as a head coach, and that is how I'd like to structure this comment.

Don't sleep on the Spartans.

San Jose State(6-2) is probably better than any of the teams left on Utah's schedule. The Spartan's only lost 20-17 at #14 Stanford and to Utah State (a team that Utah couldn't beat).

Meanwhile, Utah finishes the season with WSU(2-6), at Washington(4-4), Arizona(5-3), and at Colorado(1-7). In other words, Utah only has one team with a winning record left on their schedule and Utah plays them at home.

Thank you for a nice complete game against GT and J. Williams was a stud. Well, November boring is here and we should win four more games. We should win against the BYE team next week. Go Cougars! I'll watched GT replay next week on espn3.

2013 will be better in November. Well, of course the whole 2013 will be better.

This was Nelson's best game as a BYU QB against a decent team. Other than the one interception, he played well.

However, Hoffman and Williams are the stars of this offense. Williams is the best all around RB at BYU since Staley, and he may end up being better than Staley. He is fun to watch.

San Jose should be a good game, but I'm hoping we'll get to see a lot of next years players against Idaho and NMSU. I'd love to see Lark play at least 1/2 of each game where he can throw the ball instead of just handing off to use the clock.

I'm hoping we face either SDSU or Air Force in the bowl game. BYU vs SDSU would draw a crowd and big ratings.

"...After big win over Georgia Tech, Cougars have bye week...".

More like bye month.

Including December, 8 weeks to heal up and get ready, for the bowl game.

All kidding aside...

BYU by, at least 60, in each scrimage, scheduled this November.

Current Sagarin Rankings

#22 BYU
#36 San Jose State
#44 Utah

It didn't take long for Utah fans to become everything they used to despise about "bcs" fan arrogance.

This was Nelson's best game as a BYU QB against a decent team. Agreed, unfortunately this is as good as he gets. Still a sub mediocre C-/D+ in my opinion. Good at rushing but extremely weak at passing with more missed receivers and the pick 6 in this game. He nearly missed a wide open Apo with a late, weak pass. Other than that the Cougars played a great game. If you want someone with guts, grit, and toughness Riley is your man. If you want a quarterback look elsewhere. Rudy, of Notre Dame football fame had those same attributes. I don't think he played more than one play let alone start a game. "I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent". John Wooden. 10 NCAA basketball Championships. The Cougars have wasted alot of talent this year.

THANK YOU! But let's not talk about that being the issue...It's all on Jake right! lol

I've been critical of my Cougs, but certainly give them credit for a dominating game on all facets. But, "Mendenhall is confident his team will continue to improve as the season moves forward." Well, of course he's confident because by son's high school football team could beat the next 3 teams the'll play.

Also, I believe this is telling: "Asked to assess his defense this season, Mendenhall said, "I haven't coached one like this yet. I'm very proud of them. Of all the things I do as a head coach, I look forward to going into that room every day as kind of a sanctuary to be with guys I consider friends, united in what we're trying to accomplish. Riley's best game? Were it not for Williams, Riley would have had thrown 3 more picks. The throw before the half ended, was the worst duck he threw all day. The long pass to Apo was so underthrown, it wsa almost picked off.

On the other hand, the only pass that Lark through in the game had velocity, accuracy, and timing all over it. Riley is a gutty player, and his legs have kept plays alive, no doubt about that. However, he cannot advance the ball downfield with any consistency.

@jealous

So you're picking SJS over BYU?

It didn't take long for BYU fans(?)like YOU, to bail on the team.

No wonder Bronco and Brandon love to listen to your fantastic insights.

LOL.

Nothing to be happy about beating a very weak Georgia Tech team... Vegas gave BYU a 21 point win...ON THE ROAD! Riley Nelson is one of the worst good-guy quarterbacks BYU has ever put on the field. Had he played the schedule that BYU played in the MWC, it would have been dismal.

27 Turnovers in 13 games? Is that right? What?

Riley's receivers have to wait for the ball, reach behind them to catch it, jump 4 feet to catch it, watch it intercepted, and watch it go back for six points the other way. This is Bronco's boy? And Bronco calls the fans idiots. Hmmmmm.

Well, it was nice to win anyway. Go Cougs.
