Ogletree--it's called poor offensive output. Your defense shines, but your offense is predictably horrible and deflating to the whole team and cougar-fan base.

Defense didn't shine against the Irish. The Cougs are not a 4th quarter team this year. When the game is on the line, nobody steps forward to lead.

Yep...Defense is...Offense is not. They killed this team this year.

Bronco has some tough decisions to make.

Utah State bounced back from close losses last year and shines this year. BYU was just a quarterback away from a perfect season and will fix that next year with a new OC. Steve Young?

@Guam_Bomb - "Defense didn't shine against the Irish."

Maybe it's our definition of shine. Sure the Irish rushed for a bunch of yards, but holding the #5 Irish to 17 points is pretty shinny in my book. Congrats defense.

As for our offense, it's not too shinny.

My guess - Doman will get one more shot in 2013. And with the rigorous schedule, and a Freshman QB, the Cougs could have a 6-6 or 7-5 record. Bronco will have no choice but to send Doman packing. Our offense is way to predictable.

It should be Tom Holmoe who has some tough decisions like:

- Relegate Bronco to Defensive Coach
- Search Party for new Head Coach (Detmer?)

Find a coach who will bench QB's, and any other player game by game that doesn't perform. Three maybe four avoidable losses this year... Bronco preps team by pumping loud music during practices for the Utah game then maybe offensive line/Riley aren't mistake prone result BYU wins without relying on the field goal attempts. No 2 point conversion against BSU result BYU wins. Nelson hits wide open Hoffman result BYU probably wins. Defense bats ball in endzone DOWN against Oregon St., receiver catches Nelsons ball instead of bouncing off his number result BYU probably wins. Shoulda, coulda, woulda and bingo 8-0 top 5 ranking instead Bronco continues to disappoint, 7 years time for him to go

It's all about the QB and we don't have one that can finish the game. The offense is anemic and I blame Doman. He is way over his head. I can't figure why he feels he has to run the offense from the sideline. Poor decision. Time for a new offensive coordinator folks.

Regroup with a different starting QB or suffer the same exact results this Saturday. There is no mystery as to why BYU is losing these games. How many games will it take for the coaches to wake up? Put Riley on special teams. Start Lark or anyone that can throw a spiral and get it beyond 20 yards to a guy wearing some blue.

If BYU could play like they did against Notre Dame, they should beat Georgia Tech. GT has been a team trying to find its identity this year, and can be beatin on any given day if they can't get into synch. On the other hand, if they get their offence rolling, BYU defense may find themselves in a speed deficit. But this years D is much better than past Ds for the Y, so who knows.

I wouldn't put money on this game - just too hard to tell with GT and BYU teams will show up.

I told you that the BYU-ND game was going to be close. I said that BYU was going to keep it close and then I had BYU winning at the end of the game. That could have happened if Riles wouldn't have thrown the ball behind Hoffman.

Again, BYU is a handful of plays away from being on its way to a BCS game and undefeated season.....So frustrating to watch.

BYU was down 17 points in the fourth quarter at Utah, after an against all odds amaizing comeback attempt, BYU is given multiple chances to tie the game (no credit to byu - credit the utah student section). So there is no amount of spin you can put on that game that makes it "close" or a "should have won" game. Everything went your way to try and erase a 17 point 4th quarter defecit, even two field goal tries.

Likewise at boise state, kicking an extra point only ties the game, not wins it. BYU only scored 6 points!

Likewise against Utah State, BYU only scores 6 points! USU fans own that "could of would have should have."

BYU lost by 18 AT HOME against OSU and was outgained big time.

ND gave BYU all the chances in the world, missing two field goals and playing thier worst game of the year - and they have two running backs have "career" days against "BYU," and shut byu out in the 2nd half.

BYU loses to any good team they have played for the past few years. They almost loose to mediocre teams. They only win big against terrible teams.

Yes! Hire Ty Detmer as asst coach to coach the QB's, thus relieving Brandon Doman of that responsibility so as he can concentrate fully on his position as OC. Would be a better fit to have Ty as OC, but I don't think Bronco or Holmoe would demote Doman at this point. I look for Bronco to hang it up probably after next year, especially if he has a mediocure year. If BYU has a great year, he might even move on to a higher paying coaching position. Then would be the right time for Detmer to move up to the head coaching position, or if he has not been hired before, to hire him at that time. He would be a coach similar to Lavell Edwards - he is that type of person. I pray that BYU hires Detmer in some capacity, soon!

Just Wondering...

...if Andy Reid will be available next year, or maybe the year after?

A guy can dream, but you think Andy Reid will go from coaching in the NFL to BYU? Let me ask that again. You think that Andy Reid will go from coaching in the NFL to BYU?

I think a more likely scenario has Ty Detmer coming to Provo. I could also see Steve Young coaching. Maybe Todd Christensen. The reason I think these guys are more likely is because they are not currently coaching at the NFL level. Maybe I am nuts.

At the end of the day, I am starting to wonder whether Bronco is the guy to lead the Cougars, especially as the schedule gets more challenging, beginning in 2013.

Prepare for the "final stretch"? More like lie down and stretch out! Four games remain - Georgia Tech (3w-4l includes a win agains Presbyterian); Idaho (1W-7L average loss by 35 points; however, win was against BYU's opponent New Mexico State); San Jose State (5W-2L, lost to USU by 22 points at home); and New Mexico State (1W - 6L). Prediction: BYU will again have the best defense in a decaade. They will be dominant. They will again challenge to be in the top 25! Players will again be first round draft choices. etc. etc.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Doman but, did he really call that bad of a game at Notre Dame? Given the OL plain stinks I thought he did a pretty decent job. If he had an average QB BYU wins on the play in the 4th where Hoffman ran wide open but, the ball was thrown about seven yards from him...
