@Utah'95
But you're not a utah "fan", you appear to me to be a real fan. utah "fans" are well known on these boards, individuals like christy b who is seldom around anymore, naval vet who has completely disappeared, jenny, hedghog, williary, 54-10 and his other 300 screen names, johninslc, hailstorm, etc. Gone, they're all pretty much gone. And by being gone they prove to be exactly what we all knew them to be, utah "fans". Those that simply hop on when they perceive it to be good and disappear when it isn't. Those that simply hate BYU but now can't use a false claim of being utah fans to make a false claim of superiority. I personally don't understand why you don't get what they are and why real utah fans like yourself tolerate them. You should be condemning them at every opportunity, but for some reason you do not. It is interesting to watch.
The Utes imploded this week with the number of turnovers and bad penalties that kept them from scoring.
Yes they were take aways by OSU but most of the turnovers were avoidable. Christopher should have caught that tipped pass is was high but still catchable. Also Wilson put that pitch right in his hands down near the goal line. No excuses those plays need to be made. The ironic thing is it was our seniors dropping the ball or not making the plays. I'm hoping that changes this week.
Most Utah fans knew that the Utes had a lot of work to do in order to compete week in and out of this conference. There are a couple of teams that aren't great but overall, even those teams have better athletes than you will find on most MWC rosters.
Utah had it's best recruiting class they have ever had last year and this years class seems to be getting to where they need it as well.
There is still a lot to play for this season but the Utes still have a bright future in a good conference.
Go Utes!
Duckhunter,
Thanks for recognizing me as a "real" Utah fan. After loyally following the Utes as my favorite team for the last 35 years, even while I was an undergraduate student at BYU, I think I've earned it. As you know, the pre-Ronny Mac years were pretty lean!
You have made it clear what you mean by 'Utah "fans."' Trust me, I get it. But be honest, by your criteria, there are more than a few Cougar "fans" out there.
I don't agree with the tone of many of the posts in these comments sections, but I have grown weary of trying to police my fellow sports fans in their comments. Instead, I try to make thoughtful, objective observations, and I try to use restraint when posting, particularly when it is a BYU-focused article. For what it's worth, these efforts have resulted in my being more comfortable in my own skin than I was last year.
That being said, here's a little well-meaning, unsolicited advice: Put aside the anger, Ducky - you'll feel better!
