This is exactly why those of us who believe in the 2nd Amendment right to own and bear firearms are so disgusted with those in Washington who dreamed up Operation Fast and Furious. That operation lead to the arming of Mexican drug dealers and the murder of a US Border Patrol Agent.

We have laws regarding who can and who can't possess firearms. The time has come for us to enforce those laws against the criminals who disobey those laws.

The right to bear arms is a great responsibility for this nation is what this sheriff should have called it. Deaths and injuries of young, old, and citizens in USA are the collateral of all the Bill of Rights it has always been and meant when it was written 250 years ago. These are the eternal everlasting sacrifices who gave their lives for our freedom to do as we wish.
This nation has come under attack from within and foreign invasion and occupation that has forced our citizens to take up arms to defend their country even while in our own homes.

These are the honors all patriots deserve serving their nation at any age.

We must thank god we still have these rights to morn our dead or praise our living in safety and without peril or fear of government arrest and detention, I think its still legal.

Every once in awhile a piece of pure fantasy pops up here. Others are driven by paranoia pushed by the certain elements within the nation who find profit in frightening gullible Americans.

Here is one example: "This nation has come under attack from within and foreign invasion and occupation that has forced our citizens to take up arms to defend their country even while in our own homes."

Nice attempt to put up a smoke screen but no cigar. The Founding Fathers gave us the 2nd Amendment because it allow individual citizens to protect their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Police officers and 911 operators understand the concept of "response time". Translated it means that when seconds count the police are only minutes away.

Those concerned about gun violence should ask Rep. Jim Matheson to propose a national bullet tax like the one they are going to attempt in Chicago. Preferably he should make it part of his re-election campaign.

If this was outrage against "violence" I could support it if focused on violent criminals.

However, this is a deliberate ploy to use some truly tragic cases as an excuse to attack the right of law abiding citizens to own firearms- many of which are used in legitimate self-defense AGAINST violent criminal attacks.

I am against criminals who attack others with fists, knives, baseball bats, machetes, automobiles, tree limbs or whatever. Let's crack down on them (the criminals) and stop the naive or sly twisting of this to attack gun rights.
