[If we have the capability of blocking certain channels, I think there should be a way to also block certain commercials.]
Asinine. Simply asinine.
This article would be acceptable if it were written by an 8 year old. The behaviors described in it, however, are not acceptable for an adult. Even worse she expects her inability to cope with certain movie trailers to be enforced for MILLIONS of other viewers.
This is behavior you shouldn't admit in public and, especially, ask the general public to accommodate.
[In fact, I remember coming home from "The Ring" in high school and sitting on my parents' bed and crying for an hour, begging them to let me sleep in their room as if I were 5 years old again.]
Indeed, behavior for a child; not a teen or adult.
Wow Mukkake overreact much? Correct me if I'm wrong here but I don't think Carmen has the authority to enforce the removal of scary movie trailers from millions TV's around the world. So you can relax now your TV viewing experience is safe from her radical point of view. Plus if this article was so asinine why did you bother to read it and then leave an asinine comment? That alone is humorous enough. Bottom line here if you don't like what you are reading then do what mature adults do and simply move on. I for one like reading small articles like this one for example because I'm a hardcore pessimist. so it's nice read something that's funny, quirky, and or uplifting by someone who isn't hardened by the world. Why you feel the need to tear someone down over something as small as this is beyond me.
@EldritchGunn
I repeat, the article says:
[If we have the capability of blocking certain channels, I think there should be a way to also block certain commercials.]
She wants the ability to control what commercials are shown during a particularly popular block of programming. The marketing team for this commercial has paid for it to be shown during this program. Their payment is what pays for the program, not her viewership. But she wants the ability to be excluded from this paid advertisement. If TV commercials are optional, then what is the point? The idea is that, during this block of programming, they can put on commercials abruptly to force you to watch them. That's how TV works.
The marketing team for this movie has decided that there is an overlap between the viewership of this program and the target viewership of their movie. They have also decided that they want maximum impact for the 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars for a few seconds of air time.
The behavior she describes upon seeing this commercial, and on other occasions, is NOT HEALTHY for an adult. She then asks that she be accommodated for this.
mukkake thanks for the lesson but I already know how all that stuff works. she can wish for this ability all she wants that doesn't mean she's gonna get it. just like I wish I could fly like superman but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. plus she's no different from any other person/parent who wants to more/less of what hollywood has to offer. plus if you have a dvr commercials are quickly becoming a thing of the past. also I think she hasn't given this blog another thought and is just spending time with her family until her next blog. listen you sound like a very intelligent, nice person who I think is taking this just a bit too seriously. so can we please move on or do you want to rage some more?
