"The owner said that the pit bull was known to be unfriendly with other animals ..."

Now that owner can pay the vet bills for the border collie his dog injured. In the pit bull's defense it was only doing what it was breed to do.

Update to this story: The owner of the pit bull thinks the police should pay her vet bills.

And yes, it is the breed.

A close relative of mine once owned a pit bull. for about 2 years it was as good as gold with kids and other dogs. Then one day it snapped, and bit a little girl, as she ran past the house to catch a school bus. when the animal control officer showed up, my relative threw the dog in the back of the cops truck and said: "I can't afford a vicious dog!". To me it seems that pit bulls are just wired wrong. fortunately this young girl that was bit by this particular pit bull suffered no serious harm and no lasting emotional difficulties. Insurance took care of the small medical bills, and due to the owners cooperation with police, no charges were filed. The animal was put down, and that is the end of the story.
