This article warms my heart! I was born in DC, raised in this area, went to Church here, and was educated at the public schools in Northern Virginia (Go, Generals!) here. I worked here, and spent a year and college--GWU--here. I still have good friends here. This DC area was the foundation for everything I became, and everything I learned for the decades that have followed, and it will always be home for me. When I read this, I nearly cried, my heart skipped a beat, and I felt proud of the place I came from, and the people who live there. Surely some of those who took part are my friends, or perhaps their sons or daughters; they are my neighbors, I know, because it's how we were. Thank you for writing this story! Kargirl in Sacramento is proud to be from Washington, DC, any day of the week!

Our day of service is this coming Saturday, 10/20. We have to wait until it's not too hot.

Great for the community, great for the Church, great for the soul.
